Description
a)捲縮耐熱性有機繊維とバインダー繊維とを含むマットを形成する工程と、
b)マットを、スパンボンドされたシートの側と接触させて、布帛組立体を形成する工程と、
c)布帛組立体を加熱して、バインダー繊維を活性化する工程と、
f)布帛組立体を圧縮状態まで圧縮する工程と、
g)圧縮状態にある布帛組立体を冷却して、耐摩耗性不織布帛を形成する工程と
を含む。
試験方法
二重層片側不織材料を、E.I. du Pont de Nemours Company,Richmond,VAより入手可能な1フィラメント当たり2.25デニールのKevlar(登録商標)短繊維、Sateri Oy,Finlandより入手可能な1フィラメント当たり3.0デニールのVisil(登録商標)短繊維、Huvis Corporation,Seoul,Koreaより入手可能な1フィラメント当たり4.0デニールの低溶融ポリエステル短バインダー繊維およびEMS−CHEMIE(North America)Inc.より入手可能なGriltex(登録商標)6Eバインダー粉末からなる繊維ウェブにボンドされたHickory Springs Manufacturing Company,Hickory,N.C.より入手可能な2.0oz/yd2スパンボンドポリエステルシート製品から作製した。二重層片側不織材料を、上記の短繊維を、低坪量バットでブレンドおよびカーディングし、バインダー粉末を適用し、この層を2つのオーブンの第1のオーブンへ供給することにより製造した。第1と第2のオーブンの間で、ポリエステルスパンボンドシートを、繊維/粉末ウェブ上に同時供給した。第2のオーブンの最後に、圧力により2層を併せてプレスするニップに材料を通して、熱的にボンドされたシート製品を作製した。二重層片側不織材料の厚さ、加熱の際の熱膨張、熱絶縁性能および布帛剛性を試験した。二重層片側不織材料の初期厚さは0.73mm、250℃の温度に15分間暴露した後の厚さは3.81mmであり、5.2倍の膨張であった。熱性能温度は391℃であった。布帛剛度は4.8lbfであった。
二重層片側不織材料を、同じ材料を用いて、比較例と同じやり方で作製した。ただし、バインダー粉末は用いなかった、または添加しなかった。この二重層片側不織材料は、比較例と同様に、同じ比率のKevlar(登録商標)およびVisil(登録商標)短繊維を含有していたが、低溶融ポリエステル短バインダー繊維の形態の全体のバインダー材料は少なかった。
二重層片側不織材料を、同じ材料を用いて、比較例と同じやり方で作製した。ただし、バインダー粉末は用いなかった、または添加しなかった。この二重層片側不織材料は、比較例と同様に、同じ比率のKevlar(登録商標)およびVisil(登録商標)短繊維を含有しており、バインダー材料の全体の量は比較例と同じであったが、バインダーは、低溶融ポリエステル短バインダー繊維の形態であった。
二重層片側不織材料を、同じ材料を用いて、比較例と同じやり方で作製した。ただし、バインダー粉末は用いなかった、または添加しなかった。この二重層片側不織材料は、比較例より少ないKevlar(登録商標)短繊維、多いVisil(登録商標)短繊維を含有しており、バインダー材料の全体量は、比較例より僅かに少なかった。ここでも、バインダーは、低溶融ポリエステル短バインダー繊維の形態であった。
以下に本発明の態様を示す。
1.物品を火炎から保護するための耐摩耗性不織布帛であって、
スパンボンド熱可塑性不織シート上に圧縮された捲縮耐熱性有機繊維と熱可塑性バインダー繊維との混合物を含む繊維の層を含み、
前記繊維の層は、圧縮された状態で、前記熱可塑性バインダー繊維の前記耐熱性有機繊維および前記シートへの接着力によってのみ、前記シートに対して保持されており、
前記布帛が熱または火炎に暴露されると、前記布帛の厚さが少なくとも1倍および1.5倍増大する、耐摩耗性不織布帛。
2.前記布帛が熱または火炎に暴露されると、前記布帛の厚さが少なくとも2倍増大する上記1に記載の耐摩耗性不織布帛。
3.前記布帛が熱または火炎に暴露されると、前記布帛の厚さが少なくとも3倍増大する上記1に記載の耐摩耗性不織布帛。
4.前記耐熱性有機繊維が、パラ−アラミド繊維である上記1に記載の耐摩耗性不織布帛。
5.前記スパンボンドシートが、前記耐摩耗性不織布帛の総重量の30〜70重量パーセントを構成する上記1に記載の耐摩耗性不織布帛。
6.前記スパンボンドシートが、前記耐摩耗性不織布帛の総重量の40〜60重量パーセントを構成する上記5に記載の耐摩耗性不織布帛。
7.前記繊維の層が、前記繊維の層の総重量に基づいて、約20〜50重量パーセントの量で捲縮耐熱性有機繊維と、約10〜30重量パーセントの量で熱可塑性バインダー繊維とを含む上記1に記載の耐摩耗性不織布帛。
8.前記繊維の層が、20〜40重量パーセントの量で捲縮耐熱性有機繊維と、20〜30重量パーセントの量で熱可塑性バインダー繊維とを含み、残りの繊維が、繊維を形成する炭化物である上記7に記載の耐摩耗性不織布帛。
9.物品を火炎から保護するために熱または火炎中で膨化する耐摩耗性不織布帛を製造する方法であって、
a)捲縮耐熱性有機繊維とバインダー繊維とを含むマットを形成する工程と、
b)前記マットを、スパンボンドされたシートの側と接触させて、布帛組立体を形成する工程と、
c)前記布帛組立体を加熱して、前記バインダー繊維を活性化する工程と、
f)前記布帛組立体を圧縮状態まで圧縮する工程と、
g)圧縮状態にある前記布帛組立体を冷却して、耐摩耗性不織布帛を形成する工程と
を含む方法。
10.前記マットが、前記マットの総重量に基づいて、約20〜50重量パーセントの量で捲縮耐熱性有機繊維と、約10〜30重量パーセントの量で熱可塑性バインダー繊維とを含む上記9に記載の耐摩耗性不織布帛を製造する方法。
Claims (2)
- 物品を火炎から保護するための耐摩耗性不織布帛であって、
スパンボンド熱可塑性不織シート上に圧縮された捲縮耐熱性有機繊維と熱可塑性バインダー繊維との混合物を含む繊維の層を含み、
前記繊維の層は、圧縮された状態で、前記熱可塑性バインダー繊維の前記耐熱性有機繊維および前記シートへの接着力によってのみ、前記シートに対して保持されており、
前記布帛が熱または火炎に暴露されると、前記布帛の厚さが少なくとも1.5倍増大する、耐摩耗性不織布帛。 - 物品を火炎から保護するために熱または火炎中で膨化する耐摩耗性不織布帛を製造する方法であって、
a)捲縮耐熱性有機繊維とバインダー繊維とを含むマットを形成する工程と、
b)前記マットを、スパンボンドされたシートの側と接触させて、布帛組立体を形成する工程と、
c)前記布帛組立体を加熱して、前記バインダー繊維を活性化する工程と、
f)前記布帛組立体を圧縮状態まで圧縮する工程と、
g)圧縮状態にある前記布帛組立体を冷却して、耐摩耗性不織布帛を形成する工程と
を含む方法。
