Description
図1は、本発明の実施の形態1にかかる内部共振器型の固体レーザー装置1aの構成を示す図である。本実施の形態1の固体レーザー装置1aは、半導体レーザー光源10、ロッドレンズ11、ボリュームブラッググレーティング(以下、VBGとする)12、ボールレンズ13、光共振器2、凹面ミラー17及び波長変換素子18を備えている。
本実施の形態2では、複数の異なる周期を有する分極反転領域が形成された波長変換素子を光共振器内に挿入して用いる例について説明する。本実施の形態2で用いる波長変換素子は、実施の形態1と同様に斜めに研磨され、光共振器内にブリュースター角で挿入される。
本実施の形態3では、光共振器内に斜め研磨された複数の波長変換素子をブリュースター角で挿入する例について説明する。
本実施の形態4では、高調波反射膜の形成された波長変換素子を光共振器内に斜めに挿入し、複数の高調波を出力させ、高調波出力の安定化を実現する例について説明する。
本実施の形態5では擬似位相整合型の波長変換素子の一方の面が他方の面と平行ではない状態に研磨(以下、ウェッジ化ともいう)し、高調波出力の安定化を実現する例について説明する。
本実施の形態6では、複数の異なる周期を持つ分極反転領域が形成され、入射面及び出射面のうちの一方の面が斜めに研磨された波長変換素子を光共振器内に挿入する例について説明する。
本実施の形態7では、高調波反射膜の形成された複数の波長変換素子を光共振器内に斜めに挿入する例について説明する。
本実施の形態8では、波長変換素子の入射面及び出射面の両面に高調波反射膜を形成し、複数の高調波を発生させて出力の安定化を実現する例について説明する。
本実施の形態9では、複数の異なる周期を持つ分極反転領域が形成され、入射面及び出射面の両面が斜めに研磨された波長変換素子を光共振器内に挿入する例について説明する。
本実施の形態10では、実施の形態1〜9で述べた固体レーザー装置を画像表示装置へ採用するときに問題となるスペックルノイズを低減する例について説明する。波長変換する固体レーザー装置を用いた光源をレーザーディスプレイ装置に応用する際、高調波の波長幅が小さいため干渉が起こりやすくなる。その結果、表示される画像がギラギラと見えてしまうスペックルノイズが発生し、画質の低下を招く。
本実施の形態11では、固体レーザー装置と、2次元空間変調素子としての液晶パネルとが用いられる液晶ディスプレイ装置について説明する。固体レーザー装置は、液晶ディスプレイのバックライト用の光源に用いられる。
Claims (10)
- ポンプ用のレーザー光を出射する半導体レーザー光源と、
前記レーザー光の入射により励起され、基本波を発振する固体レーザー結晶と、前記固体レーザー結晶を挟む位置にそれぞれ配置された1対のミラーとから構成される光共振器と、
前記基本波を高調波に変換する波長変換素子とを備え、
前記波長変換素子の少なくとも固体レーザー結晶側端面に高調波を反射する反射膜が形成されており、
前記反射膜が形成された端面は、前記基本波の光軸に垂直な面に対して所定の角度で傾いており、
前記光共振器内で発生した複数の高調波のうち、少なくとも前記固体レーザー結晶に向かう高調波の光軸を前記基本波の光軸と異ならせ、異ならせた前記高調波を他の高調波と略同一方向に出力するように、前記波長変換素子が前記光共振器の内部に配置されていることを特徴とする固体レーザー装置。 - 前記波長変換素子の前記反射膜が形成された端面の前記基本波の光軸に垂直な面に対する傾斜角は0.5〜10°であることを特徴とする請求項1記載の固体レーザー装置。
- 前記波長変換素子の前記反射膜が形成された端面が、前記波長変換素子の他方の基本波が通過する端面と平行ではない状態に基板材料のZ軸に対して斜めに研磨されていることを特徴とする請求項1記載の固体レーザー装置。
- 前記波長変換素子の前記反射膜が形成された端面の前記基本波の光軸に垂直な面に対する研磨角は0.4〜2°であることを特徴とする請求項3記載の固体レーザー装置。
- 前記波長変換素子には、複数の異なる周期の分極反転領域が形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載の固体レーザー装置。
- 複数の波長変換素子が前記光共振器内に挿入されていることを特徴とする請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載の固体レーザー装置。
- 前記複数の波長変換素子の分極反転周期はそれぞれ異なっていることを特徴とする請求項6記載の固体レーザー装置。
- 前記波長変換素子の断面形状は三角形又は台形であり、前記波長変換素子の入射面及び出射面に高調波を反射する反射膜が形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1記載の固体レーザー装置。
- 前記波長変換素子には、複数の異なる周期の分極反転領域が形成されていることを特徴とする請求項8記載の固体レーザー装置。
- 請求項1〜9のいずれかに記載の固体レーザー装置と、
前記固体レーザー装置からの出射光を変調する2次元空間変調デバイスとを備えることを特徴とする画像表示装置。
