Description
Claims (3)
- 石英ガラスからなる光ファイバを線引により得る為の光ファイバ母材を製造する方法であって、
光学的なコア部およびクラッド部を有するコアロッドの周囲に、ジャケット部となるべきガラス微粒子堆積層を気相合成法により堆積させガラス微粒子堆積体を形成する気相合成工程と、
前記ガラス微粒子堆積体が周囲に形成された前記コアロッドを加熱炉内に配置し、前記加熱炉内を実質的にCO非含有の減圧雰囲気として前記ガラス微粒子堆積体を加熱処理し、前記ガラス微粒子堆積体の表面または内部に存在するH2O分子を除去するH2O除去工程と、
前記加熱炉内をCO含有の減圧雰囲気として前記ガラス微粒子堆積体を加熱処理し、前記ガラス微粒子堆積体の表面又は内部に存在するOH基を除去するOH除去工程と、
前記加熱炉内を減圧雰囲気として、前記ガラス微粒子堆積体の表面または内部に存在するCO分子を除去するCO除去工程と、
前記ガラス微粒子堆積体を加熱処理し透明ガラス化して、前記コアロッドの周囲に前記ジャケット部が形成されてなる光ファイバ母材を製造する透明化工程と、
を備えることを特徴とする光ファイバ母材製造方法。 - 少なくとも前記OH除去工程において、前記加熱炉における給気および排気を継続する、ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の光ファイバ母材製造方法。
- 前記ガラス微粒子堆積体の加熱処理を開始してから前記透明化工程の終了までの期間、前記加熱炉内の圧力を経時的に低下させる、ことを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の光ファイバ母材製造方法。
