Description
【0001】
【0026】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a method for decomposing and removing trichloroethane, and more particularly, to a method for decomposing and removing trichloroethane using a photocatalyst.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Techniques for decomposing and removing volatile organic compounds harmful to the human body such as trihalomethane have been studied. In particular, industrial applied technology for the decomposition and removal of volatile organic compounds due to the designation of 10 organic chlorine compounds as hazardous substances in environmental standards, drainage standards, tap water quality standards, environmental standards for soil contamination, etc. It has been in full swing for several years. Conventional decomposition techniques for organochlorine compounds include the following.
[0003]
1) Decomposition method by thermal decomposition There are a method in which an organic chlorine compound adsorbed on activated carbon or the like in the gas phase is desorbed with steam and thermally decomposed at 950 ° C, or a method in which it is decomposed at 350 ° C directly in the presence of a catalyst.
2) Photochemical decomposition method There are a method of photochemical decomposition in the gas phase with ultraviolet rays of short wavelength (185 nm), a method of photochemical decomposition in aqueous system with medium pressure ultraviolet light, and a method of photochemical decomposition in aqueous system with ozone ultraviolet light. Are known.
3) Method using photocatalyst Using photocatalyst, photochemically decomposing with long wave ultraviolet light (354 nm) in the gas phase, using photocatalyst with water using Ti photocatalyst, using photocatalyst, using Fe photocatalyst It is known that it is photochemically decomposed by ultraviolet rays.
[0004]
In addition, methods for decomposing using microorganisms have been studied. However, the conventional method has the disadvantages that the efficiency of decomposition or removal is poor and the apparatus becomes large.
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In view of the above circumstances, JP-A-9-155160 and JP-A-9-155337 describe a method and apparatus for decomposing and removing volatile organic compounds such as trihalomethane by irradiating ultraviolet rays in the presence of a photocatalyst. Has been.
However, the methods described in these documents have problems such as slow decomposition of volatile organic compounds and the need for a large amount of photons to achieve a practical throughput.
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to solve the above-mentioned problems and to provide a method for decomposing and removing trichloroethane capable of efficiently decomposing and removing trichloroethane among volatile organic compounds, particularly a method for decomposing and removing suitable for continuous treatment of trichloroethane. is there.

[0008]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a schematic view showing an example of a water treatment apparatus including a decomposition / removal apparatus suitable for use in the method for decomposing and removing trichloroethane according to the present invention.
[0010]
For example, in the environment, trichloroethane is dissolved in groundwater or contained in the soil as a gas. In the example of FIG. 1, the case where the trichloroethane which melt | dissolves in such groundwater and the trichloroethane which exists as gas in soil is taken up is taken up.
[0011]
As shown in FIG. 1, groundwater (containing trichloroethane ) pumped up from a groundwater pumping device is aerated in a gas-liquid separator, and a gas containing trichloroethane is sent to a mixing device through a flow passage (a). In FIG. 1, a mist separator is installed after the gas-liquid separator so that only gas is sent, and such a configuration is preferable.
Further, the gas containing trichloroethane is sent to the mixing device through the flow path by the soil gas suction device.
Of course, the treatment of the trichloroethane dissolved in the ground water and the trichloroethane existing as gas in the soil may be performed either alone or both.
[0013]
As means (d) for supplying chlorine gas , any means capable of supplying chlorine gas can be used. For example, an example is an apparatus that generates chlorine gas by reacting sodium hypochlorite with an acid such as sulfuric acid and supplies the chlorine gas. That is, the “reaction apparatus” shown in FIG. Chlorine gas from the “reactor” is supplied to the mixing device. The “reactor” has a structure in which chlorine gas is generated by reacting sodium hypochlorite with sulfuric acid, and further, the chlorine gas is sent to a mixing device by a blower device. The reaction ratio of sodium hypochlorite and acid is not particularly limited, but in this case, sodium hypochlorite: acid = 1: 1 to 2 mol may be used.
[0014]
In the mixing device, a gas containing trichloroethane and chlorine gas are mixed, and this mixed gas is sent to the photocatalyst device through the flow passage (a).
[0015]
In this invention, the usage-amount of chlorine gas is 1 mmol-7.5 mmol with respect to 1 mol of trichloroethane before a process. If the chlorine gas is less than the above, there is no significant difference from the case where the chlorine gas is not used, and even if the chlorine gas is used in excess of the above, no more significant effect is obtained and it is not efficient.
[0016]
The photocatalyst device is arranged in the flow passage (a), and ultraviolet irradiation means (b) for irradiating the mixed gas flowing in the flow passage (a) with ultraviolet rays, and a catalyst provided around the ultraviolet irradiation means Any device provided with the means (c) may be used, and for example, a known device as described in JP-A-9-155160 can be used.
[0017]
A reaction unit of such a photocatalytic device will be described with reference to FIG.
The illustrated
[0018]
Although details of the mechanism of this decomposition reaction are not necessarily clear, the present inventors consider as follows. That is, conventionally, the reaction of trichloroethane with ultraviolet light under a photocatalyst is that when moisture receives ultraviolet light, titanium oxide functions as a photocatalyst to generate OH radicals, which act on trichloroethane and decompose them. It was thought. On the other hand, the chlorine radicals in the course of the reaction is also detected, and was present inventors have found that the reaction rate is faster in a batch reaction the residual chlorine radicals by once reacting. Therefore, it is considered that halogen radicals act on the above reaction as a reaction promoting factor in this type of reaction.
[0019]
The mixed gas is exposed to ultraviolet rays when flowing, and reacts as described above with the titanium oxide photocatalyst, so that the mixed gas flows between the inner tube and the outer tube so that contact with various radicals is promoted as much as possible. Configured. For this purpose, if the difference between the diameters of the

By reaction in the photocatalyst device, but trichloroethane are decomposed harmless raw Narubutsu, since by way of the phosgene from dichloroacetyl chloride results in hydrogen chloride, as shown in FIG, neutralization tower after the photocatalytic device It is preferable to install an apparatus to neutralize hydrogen chloride and release it to the atmosphere.
[0023]
Here, the neutralization tower apparatus is not particularly limited, and any known apparatus can be used as long as it neutralizes the hydrogen chloride-containing gas. For example, in FIG. Hydrogen chloride is neutralized by using an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution and circulating the aqueous sodium hydroxide solution with a circulation pump through the filler in the neutralization tower.

【Example】
(Examples 1 and 2)
For a gas having 0.16 mmol / liter of trichloroethane in the air, chlorine gas is 0.0005 mmol / liter (Example 1), or 0.001 mmol / liter (Example 2) (respectively
(Comparative Example 1)
For comparison, a gas without addition of chlorine gas was circulated through the photoreaction unit shown in FIG. 2, and the change in the concentration of trichloroethane with the light irradiation time was measured. The results are shown in FIG.
[0025]
As is clear from FIG. 3, it can be seen that trichloroethane can be treated efficiently in a very short time as compared with the prior art according to the present invention. Therefore, it can be seen that the number of photoreaction units can be reduced as compared with the conventional case, and the processing apparatus can be downsized.
