Description
図1は、この発明の第1の実施の形態の転がり形式のラックガイドを備えたラック・ピニオン式ステアリング装置10の構成を説明する断面図である。
第2の実施の形態は、第1の実施の形態の転がり形式のラックガイドを備えたラック・ピニオン式ステアリング装置10と類似した構成であり、ローラ24の外周面の形状が異なるだけである。従ってラックガイドを備えたラック・ピニオン式ステアリング装置の構成については図1及びその説明を援用して詳細な説明を省略し、以下、相違点について説明する。
第3の実施の形態は、第1の実施の形態の転がり形式のラックガイドを備えたラック・ピニオン式ステアリング装置10と類似した構成であるが、ローラ24の外周面の形状を塑性変形させる方法が、第1及び第2の実施の形態の方法と異なる。従ってラックガイドを備えたラック・ピニオン式ステアリング装置の構成については、図1に示す第1の実施の形態を援用して詳細な説明を省略し、以下、相違点について説明する。

Claims (5)
- ローラでラック軸の背面をラックとピニオンとの噛合面に向けて押圧するラックガイドホルダと該ラックガイドホルダのピン挿入溝に配置されたピンに回転自在に装着された鼓状の外周面を有するローラとから構成された転がり型ラックガイドを備えたラック・ピニオン式ステアリング装置の製造方法であって、
前記ローラの鼓状の外周面は、ラック軸のピニオンとの噛合面と反対側の外周面の断面形状の曲率とは異なる曲率の断面形状に形成した後、形成された鼓状の外周面にラック軸を押圧してラック軸を軸方向に往復移動させてローラを回転させつつ塑性変形させ、前記ローラの鼓状の外周面をラック軸の前記噛合面と反対側の外周面に倣わせて線接触する形状に形成すること
を特徴とするラック・ピニオン式ステアリング装置の製造方法。 - 前記ローラは、ラック軸のピニオンとの噛合面と反対側の外周面の断面形状の曲率よりも大きい曲率を備えた断面形状の鼓状の外周面に形成した後、表面硬化処理を行い、その後に鼓状の外周面を塑性変形させることによりラック軸の前記噛合面と反対側の外周面に倣わせて線接触する形状に形成すること
を特徴とする請求項1に記載のラック・ピニオン式ステアリング装置の製造方法。 - 前記ローラは、ラック軸のピニオンとの噛合面と反対側の外周面の断面形状の曲率よりも小さい曲率を備えた断面形状の鼓状の外周面に形成した後、表面硬化処理を行い、その後に鼓状の外周面を塑性変形させることによりラック軸の前記噛合面と反対側の外周面に倣わせて線接触する形状に形成すること
を特徴とする請求項1に記載のラック・ピニオン式ステアリング装置の製造方法。 - 前記ローラの鼓状の外周面の塑性変形は、前記ラックガイドをラック軸に向けて押圧して行うこと
を特徴とする請求項1乃至3のいずれかに記載のラック・ピニオン式ステアリング装置の製造方法。 - 前記ローラの鼓状の外周面の塑性変形は、前記ラック軸の端部に荷重を加えてラック軸をラックガイドに向けて押圧して行うこと
を特徴とする請求項1乃至3のいずれかに記載のラック・ピニオン式ステアリング装置の製造方法。
