Claims (5)
- 各々光ファイバ母材の延伸方向に移動可能に設けられた送側把持部と引側把持部とによって光ファイバ母材の両端を把持し、加熱手段によって前記光ファイバ母材を加熱した状態で、前記引側把持部の移動速度が前記送側把持部の移動速度より速い速度差をもって当該両把持部を同方向に移動させ、前記引側把持部と前記送側把持部の移動速度差によって前記光ファイバ母材に張力を与え、光ファイバ母材を延伸する光ファイバ母材の延伸方法において、
延伸終了時には、前記加熱手段による前記光ファイバ母材の加熱を停止し、加熱停止後も、前記引側把持部と前記送側把持部の移動速度差によって前記光ファイバ母材に張力を与えた状態を維持する光ファイバ母材の延伸方法。 - 前記光ファイバ母材の温度あるいは光ファイバ母材温度を代表する温度を監視し、加熱停止後、前記温度が所定値に低下するまで前記光ファイバ母材に張力を与えた状態を維持する請求項1記載の光ファイバ母材の延伸方法。
- 延伸終了時の前記加熱手段による前記光ファイバ母材の加熱温度を、それ以前の加熱温度より低くする請求項1または2記載の光ファイバ母材の延伸方法。
- 加熱停止後の前記引側把持部の移動速度と前記送側把持部の移動速度を各々徐々に低下し、前記引側把持部と前記送側把持部の移動を同時停止する請求項1〜3の何れか1項記載の光ファイバ母材の延伸方法。
- 前記光ファイバ母材に作用する張力を監視し、前記引側把持部の移動速度と前記送側把持部の移動速度の制御により、加熱停止以後の張力を加熱停止以前の張力とほぼ同値に維持する請求項1〜4の何れか1項記載の光ファイバ母材の延伸方法。
