Description
The present invention relates to an image forming system such as a copying machine or a printing apparatus, and more particularly to a technique for outputting a test print or the like for image quality confirmation.
When performing a large amount of printing or copying continuously, or when performing color printing in which the image quality is likely to change, it is preferable to occasionally check whether good image quality is maintained.
。 In order to reduce maintenance man-hours for maintenance personnel accompanying such image quality confirmation, etc., a color that is configured to automatically print out a test pattern image without the operator's operation every time the set period arrives A printer has been proposed (see, for example, Patent Document 1).
In addition, there is an apparatus that performs test printing by sequentially switching the discharge destination tray in order to check the operation of the entire image forming system including the discharge path (see, for example, Patent Document 2).
Even when the test pattern image is automatically formed and output at the set cycle, if the test pattern image is discharged to the same output destination as normal output paper, it will be mixed into a large amount of output paper. It took a lot of time to find the test pattern image later, or to monitor the output tray so as not to miss the test pattern image being discharged. .
SUMMARY An advantage of some aspects of the invention is that it provides an image forming system that can easily visually check the presence or absence of image quality degradation during image formation.

An image forming system comprising: control means (102) for controlling the switching means (241, 253) and changing a threshold value relating to the established condition .
According to the above-described invention, it is possible to select whether the image data related to the image forming job is a test image or a test pattern prepared in advance is a test image. When a predetermined condition is satisfied during the execution of the image forming job, the test output formed on the sheet using the previously selected test image is discharged to another stacking unit (202). Thereafter, the control is performed so that the discharge destination is returned to the original stacking unit (201) again, and the threshold value relating to the established condition is changed .
It is preferable that the test pattern has an easy-to-understand change in image quality. For example, a test pattern provided with a patch such as solid black or halftone has a remarkable change in image quality as compared with a normal character or line drawing.
Control (hereinafter referred to as switching control) of switching the discharge destination to another stacking unit (202) and returning to the original stacking unit (201) is automatically executed according to predetermined conditions and procedures. The predetermined condition is a condition related to the internal temperature of the image forming means is at least one of conditions related to flight humidity of said image forming means. Conditions relating to the number of times of image formation and conditions relating to the operation time of image formation may be included. Since an element related to the cause of the change in image quality is selected as a condition, an output image at an appropriate timing can be visually confirmed by activating switching control to another stacking unit (202) based on the condition.
The condition relating to the number of times of image formation is satisfied when the number of sheets on which the image is formed is counted and is periodically satisfied for every predetermined number of sheets such as 100 sheets, or when the number of sheets set arbitrarily by an operator or the like is reached. There are conditions. For example, after 200 sheets, it is established every 50 sheets. The conditions related to the image forming operation time are the accumulated time of the execution time of the image forming operation, which is established every time a predetermined time or a predetermined time elapses, or a scheduled operation time arbitrarily set by an operator or the like. There are conditions that will be met when the limit is reached. For example, it is established every 5 minutes from the time when 20 minutes have passed since the job started.
The conditions relating to the in-machine temperature of the image forming means (10) are satisfied when the temperature reaches a threshold value, and each time the current threshold value is reached and the test image forming process is executed, the in-machine temperature and the in-machine temperature are satisfied. The threshold value to be compared with humidity is changed to the following value. The conditions relating to the in-machine humidity of the image forming means (10) are satisfied when the humidity reaches a threshold value, and each time the current threshold value is reached and the test image forming process is executed, the in-machine temperature and the in-machine humidity are satisfied. The threshold value to be compared with humidity is changed to the following value. It is also possible to target temperatures and humidity at a plurality of locations in the machine.
It does not matter whether the predetermined condition is singular or plural. The predetermined condition may be selectable or set by an operator or the like, or may be fixedly determined. Further, the predetermined condition may be automatically changed according to the contents of the image forming job. For example, the conditions may be automatically changed or manually changed during color image formation and monochrome image formation, or the conditions may be automatically changed or manually changed during continuous image formation and intermittent image formation. Further, the switching control may be activated periodically at a certain number interval or at a certain operation time, or may be activated when the in-machine temperature or the in-machine humidity reaches a specific value. In addition, it is also conceivable that the number of sheets for which the switching control is activated can be programmed in advance.
The invention according to
According to the above-described invention, it is possible to visually confirm the image on the sheet stacked on the other stacking unit (202) as it is from the outside. For example, the other stacking unit is preferably an exposed paper discharge tray. The other stacking units need only have a load capacity of several to several tens, and the load capacity is not limited.
Further, the activation condition of temporarily switching control to discharge to the other of the loading portion (202) of the sheet on which the image is formed may be configured to change settings. In addition to making it possible to select one or more conditions from a plurality of types prepared in advance, an arbitrary condition may be set . In addition , by setting no condition, it is possible to prevent activation of switching control to another stacking unit (202), and it is possible to cope with a case where image quality confirmation is unnecessary. Note that it may be configured to enable / disable the entire switching control.
Invention according to
According to the above invention, in addition to the output related to the image forming job, an extra test output for discharging to another stacking unit (202) is created. As a result, even when printing a printed material composed of a plurality of pages, a page missing due to discharge to another stacking unit (202) does not occur, and the printed material stacked on the original stacking unit (201) does not occur. The page order is preserved. Note that it is determined whether the printed matter related to the image forming job is a single sheet unit or one page composed of a plurality of pages. If it is a single sheet unit, a part of the output related to the image forming job is transferred to another stack. When one copy is composed of a plurality of pages, the test output for discharging to another stacking unit (202) is created separately from the job. May be. Further, it may be configured such that an operator or the like can select whether to output a part of the image forming job to another stacking unit (202) or to create an extra test output.
A part of the output related to the image forming job may be discharged to another stacking unit (202). Thereby, visual confirmation of an image becomes possible, without performing unnecessary image formation. For example, it is effective when printing a large number of printed materials in units of one sheet such as leaflet printing.
The invention according to
According to the said invention, whenever it changes discharge destination, the output which makes several sheets a set is discharged | emitted to another stacking part (202). For example, a set may be constituted by a plurality of types of test patterns having different purposes. One set may be composed of images related to an image forming job, or may be composed of a mixture of a test pattern and an image related to an image forming job. Note that it is efficient to use a test pattern in which the contents of a plurality of sheets are integrated into one sheet. Moreover, it is good to comprise so that selection of one sheet or several sheets is selectable.
Invention according to
When a paper jam occurs, the job is temporarily stopped, the main body cover is opened, and the paper jam is removed. At this time, the image quality at that time can be visually confirmed by the test output with the image formed included in the paper jam. Therefore, the test output is excluded from the recovery target to prevent unnecessary re-output. When a plurality of test outputs are used as a set, it is preferable to exclude only the test outputs on which image formation has been performed from the recovery targets. “Image formation completed” means that in the case of an electrophotographic process, the fixing process has been completed. Further, it may be configured to be able to select whether or not to exclude the test output on which image formation has been performed from the recovery target.
Invention according to claim 6, wherein when discharging the paper to the other stacking unit in the middle execution of the image forming job (202), any one of
According to the above invention, the operator or the like is notified that the sheet has been discharged to the other stacking unit (202). The notification method does not matter. For example, a message, icon, or picture can be displayed on the operation display unit, a buzzer can be sounded, a voice guide can be played, or a lamp or patrol light can be turned on or blinked. In addition, an email may be sent to the operator.
Invention according to claim 7, according to any one of
According to the above invention, the image-formed surface faces upward and is discharged to the other stacking section (202). Therefore, even when only one side is image-formed, the image can be kept in the stacked state. It can be visually confirmed. For example, it is only necessary to control whether or not the front and back of the paper are reversed by a reversing mechanism provided in the paper conveyance path.
According to the image forming system of the present invention, the switching control for switching the paper discharge destination to another stacking unit during the execution of the image forming job and then returning to the original stacking unit based on the success or failure of a predetermined condition. since the automatically performed, for example, or locate the output for the image quality checking can be loaded separately automatically and the other output, after a test pattern images and the like had undeniably in a large amount of output paper In addition, there is no need to constantly monitor the stacking unit so as not to miss the discharge of the test pattern image and the like, thereby reducing the burden on the maintenance staff and the operator. Furthermore, since it is not necessary to worry about the timing at which the image quality should be confirmed and the progress of the image forming job, the burden on the operator is reduced. In addition, there is no need to neglect or forget the output work for image confirmation, and reliable image confirmation is performed.
In addition, when the other stacking unit has a structure in which images on stacked sheets can be visually confirmed from the outside, the stacker has a structure in which the original stacking unit cannot take out the loaded sheets during operation and check the image quality. Even in the case of an apparatus or the like, it is possible to check the presence or absence of image quality degradation without interrupting the image forming process.
Since at least one of the in-machine temperature and the in-machine humidity is set as the activation condition for the switching control, it is possible to activate the switching control at an appropriate timing to automatically output an image for checking the image quality.
In addition to the output related to the image forming job, if you create an extra test output to be discharged to another stacking unit, even if you print a print consisting of one page with multiple pages, you can load it on the original stacking unit. The image can be confirmed while maintaining the page order of the printed matter to be printed.
When printing a test pattern on the paper to be discharged to the other stacking unit, by setting the contents of the test pattern appropriately, it is possible to accurately, easily grasp the changes in the image quality. In addition, in a case where a plurality of sheets are discharged to another stacking unit with one switching, detailed image quality confirmation by various test patterns becomes possible.
When a paper jam that includes an image-formed test output occurs, the test output image can be checked during the paper jam clearing operation if the test output is excluded from the recovery target. By eliminating from the above, useless image formation is prevented.
When a sheet is discharged to another stacking unit in the middle of the execution of an image forming job, a notification to that effect can prompt an operator or the like to visually check the image. In addition, this notification enables an operator or the like to quickly check without monitoring other loading units throughout, and reduces the work load.
In the case of discharging the paper to another stacking unit so that the surface on which the image is formed faces upward, the image can be visually confirmed in the stacked state, and the efficiency of the confirmation work is improved.

On the rear side (downstream) of the fixing

Thereafter, the job sequence process (step S307), the image formation process (step S308), the test image formation process (step S309), and the discharge process (310) are repeatedly executed until the requested job is completed (step S311; N). ). When the job is finished (step S311; Y), post-processing related to the end of the job is executed (step S312), then the process returns to the standby state and the idling process is resumed (step S303).

There are multiple thresholds related to the in-machine temperature and in-machine humidity, and each time the current threshold value is reached and the test image forming process is executed, the threshold value to be compared with the in-machine temperature and in-machine humidity The value is changed to. For example, after reaching the temperature A, the temperature B higher than the temperature A is used as the threshold value.

Further, the threshold value to be used may be automatically changed or manually changed according to the type of image forming job, for example, color or black and white.

FIG. 7 shows the flow of the test image forming process. The setting contents of the image type setting indicating whether the test image is the test pattern or the same image as the job being executed is checked (step S601). If the internal pattern is specified (step S601; Y), the test of FIG. A predetermined test pattern image is internally generated by the output creating means 104, and this image is formed on a sheet (step S602). If the internal pattern is not designated (step S601; N), the same image as the image related to the job being executed is formed (step S603). In this case, the image is the same as the job, but it is created in addition to the job.
Next, the setting of the number of test images to be output by one switching control is checked (step S604). If it is set to one sheet (step S604; N) or a plurality of sheets (step S604; Y), and the test image formation for the set number of sheets has been completed (step S604). S605; Y), the information indicating the achievement of the start condition (predetermined condition) that caused the current test image formation is cleared (step S606), and the fact that the predetermined condition has been achieved is stored for recovery (step S606). In step S607), this process ends (RET). Here, the condition achievement flag is set and the contents of the achieved condition are stored.
The information to be cleared in step S606 is, for example, when a test image is formed by achievement of the conditions relating to the number of image formations, the counter that counts the number of image formations is reset to zero. When the test image is formed by achievement of the conditions relating to the operation time, the operation time count is reset to zero. In the case of the in-machine temperature and the in-machine humidity, changing the threshold value to the next value corresponds to clearing the achievement information.
When the number of test images to be output in one switching control is set to a plurality of sheets (step S604; Y), when the test image formation for the set number of sheets has not been completed (step S605; N) This process is terminated as it is (RET). By repeatedly executing the test image forming process, the formation of the set number of test images ends.

When the discharge of the test image is completed, the condition achievement flag corresponding to the test image is reset to clear the information indicating the achievement of the predetermined condition stored for recovery. .
(RET)。 FIG. 9 shows the flow of recovery processing relating to the test image. This process is executed when a paper jam occurs. When the setting contents of the recovery setting indicating whether or not the test image is to be recovered is “No” in the recovery of the test image (step S801; N), the condition achievement flag is reset and stored for recovery. The information indicating that the predetermined condition has been achieved is cleared (step S804), and the process ends (RET).
By resetting the condition achievement flag, even when the test image is included in the paper jam, the test image is not recovered. This is because when the test image is included in the paper jam, the test image can be visually confirmed during the paper jam clearing operation.
(RET)。 When the recovery setting is “recovery” (step S801; Y), it is checked whether or not a test image is included in the jammed paper (step S802). Specifically, it is checked whether the condition achievement flag is set. When the condition achievement flag is set (step S802; Y), the corresponding predetermined condition is restored (step S803). Then, the condition achievement flag is reset, information indicating achievement of the predetermined condition stored for recovery is cleared (step S804), and the process is terminated (RET).
The restoration of the predetermined condition corresponds to, for example, setting the specified number of times that achieves the condition in the counter when the condition relating to the number of image formations is restored. When restoring the condition related to the operation time, the count value of the operation time is set to a specified time for achieving the condition. In the case of in-machine temperature or in-machine humidity, the threshold value is returned to the previous value. By restoring the predetermined condition, the predetermined condition is achieved in the next image forming process, and the test image is recovered.
(RET)。 If the condition achievement flag is not set (step S802; N), the test image is not included in the jammed paper, and thereafter, this processing is terminated without doing anything (RET).
