BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a navigation apparatus, and more particularly to a navigation apparatus that can efficiently show a searched route to a user without forcing the user to perform a special operation.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In general, a car navigation system using GPS (Global Satellite Positioning System) searches for a desirable route based on a user inputting a starting point, a destination, and the like, and the user searches for the route (recommended route) searched for. When the car is driven along, the map displayed on the liquid crystal panel has a function of scrolling along the recommended route.
Some car navigation systems have a function of changing the scale of a map displayed on a liquid crystal panel based on a user operating a remote controller or the like.
[0003]
Therefore, according to the conventional car navigation system, when the map is scrolled and displayed along the recommended route, the user can operate the remote controller or the like to efficiently view the recommended route. The scale can be changed.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in such a conventional car navigation system, since the scale of the map cannot be changed without operating a remote controller or the like, the user is forced to perform complicated operations while driving the car in order to efficiently view the recommended route. Was supposed to be.
[0005]
The present invention has been made in view of the above-described points, and an object of the present invention is to provide a navigation device that can efficiently show a recommended route to a user without forcing the user to perform complicated operations.

[0008]
Here, it can be said that the scale suitable for efficiently showing the route to the user is closely related to the remaining distance on the route and the road type of the route.
That is, as an example, when this remaining distance is less than a certain distance that is relatively close to the destination, the scale is increased (detailed map), while when the remaining distance is more than this certain distance (ie, compared from the destination) The route can be shown more efficiently if the scale is reduced (in the case of a wide area map) when the route is far away from the target.
[0009]
As an example, if the route road is an expressway, the moving speed is generally large, so the scale is small (use a wide area map). If the road is a general road, the moving speed is generally small, so the scale is large (detailed map). In addition, when the road is a narrow street of general roads, the scale is larger because the moving speed is generally smaller than that of the main road of general roads (make a more detailed map). The route can be shown more efficiently.
[0010]
Therefore, by automatically changing the scale of the map based on the remaining distance on the route and the road type of the route, the route can be efficiently shown to the user without forcing the user to perform complicated operations. Can do.
Furthermore, according to this navigation device, the scroll speed of the displayed map is also automatically changed by the scroll speed variable means based on the remaining distance on the route and the road type of the route.

Then, when the user performs an operation of selecting the start of the road scroll with the
[0021]
In this loop, a process for visually scrolling the map is performed. That is, on the condition that there is no instruction to end the road scroll (step S3), the moving point of the map every predetermined time (for example, several seconds) along the recommended route is set to a shorter unit time (here 1/60). The movement point is subdivided every second), and the map being displayed on the
[0022]
After repeating the movement to the movement point every 1/60 seconds thus subdivided, when the next original movement point (several seconds later) is reached, the result of this loop is determined as YES in step S6. Leave. Then, after steps S8 to S11 (the processing of steps S8 to S11 will be described later), the process proceeds to “moving point calculation processing” of step S12.
[0023]
The “moving point calculation process” is a process of calculating a new original (several seconds later) moving point. FIG. 6 shows an example of the “moving point calculation process”. First, based on the moving speed of the map displayed on the
[0024]
And it returns to step S3 of FIG. 3 again, and loop processing of step S3-S7 is performed with respect to this new movement point.
In this way, the map is smoothly scrolled and displayed along the recommended route.
[0025]
In steps S8 to S11, processing that characterizes the present invention is performed.
Of these, in step S8, when the original moving point (every few seconds) is reached, information on the remaining distance on the recommended route and information on the type (attribute) of the road of the recommended route are acquired.
[0026]
Here, the remaining distance refers to a recommended route from the center position of the map displayed on the liquid crystal panel 30 (ie, the current vehicle position) to the destination when scrolling in the traveling direction is performed. This is the distance on the recommended route from the center position (current vehicle position) of this map to the departure point when scrolling in the direction of the departure point (vehicle direction). .
The type of road is, for example, either an expressway or a general road, or a main road or a narrow street other than the general road. Again, this type is determined for the road at the center of the map (ie, the current vehicle position).
[0027]
The subsequent “display level acquisition process” in step S9 is a process for determining the level (scale) of the map displayed on the
[0028]
Among these, in the process of FIG. 4, the map level (scale) is determined based on the road type information acquired in step S8 (step S21). Here, as an example, if the road is an expressway, the scale is reduced (wide area map), and if the road is a main road among general roads, the scale is made larger than that of the expressway (detailed map). However, when the road is a narrow street of general roads, this determination is made on the basis of a determination standard that makes the scale larger (makes a detailed map) than that of the main road.
[0029]
On the other hand, in the process of FIG. 5, the level (scale) of the map is determined based on the remaining distance information acquired in step S8 (step S31). Here, as an example, if the remaining distance is less than a certain distance that is relatively close to the destination (the departure point in the case of scrolling in the direction of the vehicle), the scale is increased (in a detailed map), When the remaining distance is equal to or greater than this fixed distance (that is, when it is in the middle of a recommended route that is relatively far from the destination (the departure point in the case of scrolling in the direction of the vehicle)), reduce the scale (use a wide area map). ) Make this decision according to the decision criteria.
[0030]
4 and FIG. 5, for example, a table in which road types and map levels (scales) are stored in correspondence with the above determination criteria, remaining distances (or total recommended routes). It is preferable to prepare a table in which the ratio between the distance and the remaining distance) and the map level (scale) are stored in correspondence with the determination criteria as described above and refer to it. Alternatively, as another example, a calculation formula for making a determination based on the above-described determination criteria based on road type information and remaining distance information may be created, and the calculation may be executed.
[0031]
Returning to FIG. 3, in step S10 following step S9, the map level (scale) currently displayed on the

Subsequently, the map data in the determined range is acquired (the acquired map data is converted into a drawable format if necessary), and data (route information) to be drawn over the map is acquired (step S52). ). Then, using this acquired data, a map is drawn in the memory area (designated area) to be drawn (step S53).

Then, after waiting for a drawing completion trigger, the display on the

In addition, when the road on which the vehicle is currently traveling is an expressway (that is, when the moving speed is generally high), the scale is automatically reduced (a wide area map), while the road on which the vehicle is traveling is a general road. When this occurs (ie when the moving speed is generally low), this scale automatically increases (a detailed map), and when the road being traveled is a narrow street (ie when the moving speed is generally lower). This scale automatically becomes larger (a more detailed map).
[0037]
Thus, according to this car navigation system, when the map is scrolled and displayed on the
[0038]
In the above example, in the “display level acquisition process”, as shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, the map level (scale) is determined based on one of the road type information and the remaining distance information. However, the present invention is not limited to this, and based on a combination of remaining distance information and road type information (for example, a table in which three types of road type, remaining distance, and scale are stored in correspondence with each other is referred to. The scale may be determined.
[0039]
In the above example, when the scale is changed according to the road type, the scale is changed in three stages depending on whether the road is a highway, a main road, or a narrow street. However, the present invention is not limited to this. For example, the scale may be changed to only two stages depending on whether the road is an expressway or a general road, or the scale may be changed to four or more stages.
[0040]
In the above example, when the scale is changed according to the remaining distance, the remaining distance is less than a certain distance that is relatively close to the destination (the departure place in the case of scrolling in the direction of the vehicle). The scale is changed depending on whether or not. However, the present invention is not limited to this. For example, when there is a transit point, the scale may be changed depending on whether the transit point is relatively close (the scale is increased when the transit point is relatively close). .
[0041]
In the above example, only the scale of the map is automatically changed according to the remaining distance on the recommended route and the road type of the recommended route. However, as another example, not only the scale of the map but also the moving speed of the map displayed on the
Further, the present invention is not limited to the above examples, and it is needless to say that various other configurations can be taken without departing from the gist of the present invention.
[0042]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the navigation device of the present invention, when the map is scrolled and displayed along the searched route, the remaining distance on the route and the road type of the route are displayed. Since the map scale is automatically changed based on this , the searched route can be efficiently shown to the user without forcing the user to perform complicated operations.
Further, the scroll speed of the displayed map is automatically changed based on the remaining distance on the route and the road type of the route.
