クレーンの地震に対する法定設計荷重は水平方向0.2Gであり、水平方向に自重の0.2倍の水平力が働いてもこれに耐えるようにしている。
また、特開昭55−101588号にはトロリにガーダレールのクランプ機構を設け、地震時にトロリをガーダに固定するようにした技術が開示されている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかし、地震時に0.2Gを越える水平力が働いた場合、クレーンの破損や倒壊が発生するので、これらを可能な限り防止したい。また、地震時トロリをガーダに固定しても0.2G越える水平力が働いた場合、破損や倒壊を防止することはできない。このため、地震によるクレーンの揺れを抑制する制振装置を設ける必要があるが、かなりの重量とスペースが必要となる。
