Description

【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a resonator connected to an intake duct of an engine installed at a position below a front part of an engine room of a vehicle.
[0002]
[Prior art]
As shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, in general, an intake duct 1 of an engine intake system of an automobile has an intake hole 10 at a front end thereof at a position below a headlight 4 near a front corner of an engine room. Has been installed. The intake duct 1 is often provided with a resonator 2A for reducing intake noise. This type of resonator 2A is a hollow cube connected to the distal end of the intake duct 1 via a resonator duct 20, requires a volume for reducing intake noise of a specific frequency, and has a relatively large mounting space. And is disposed in a space immediately after the end of the front bumper 5, and an intake hole 10 of the intake duct 1 is opened just above a front upper portion of the resonator 2A. In FIG. 4, 8 is a front grill, and 9 is a radiator.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, since the resonator 2A is provided at a low position on the vehicle body, when the vehicle passes through a puddle or a flood channel, the water hitting the front surface of the resonator 2A is swept up along the front surface, and the vehicle easily gets over the front surface. When the water gets over the resonator 2A, the water is sucked into the intake duct 1 above the resonator 2A, reaches the engine, and may cause engine malfunction.
[0004]
If the tip of the intake duct 1 is extended forward to a position close to the front bumper 5 so that water that has passed over the resonator 2A is not sucked, the water enters through the gap between the headlight 4 and the bumper 5 when the vehicle is running on rainy weather. Rainwater is sucked into the intake hole 10. Therefore, the forward extension of the intake duct 1 is limited. Therefore, a separate plate member that protrudes forward from the front surface of the resonator 2A and cuts off between the upper edge of the front surface of the resonator 2A and the tip of the intake duct 1 above the front surface of the resonator 2A is attached to the upper surface of the resonator 2A. Although the raised water is blocked, the number of parts increases and the number of assembly steps increases.
[0005]
Therefore, an object of the present invention is to realize a resonator that prevents suction of water from an intake duct when a vehicle passes through a flood channel without providing a separate member for the resonator.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present invention is positioned on the front side below the engine compartment of a vehicle, in the resonator of a hollow cube which is attached to the lower portion of the intake duct of the engine to have a suction hole opened toward the front, the air intake holes the front surface of the resonator And the resonator is integrally provided with a waterproof wall that rises from the front edge and the side edge of the upper surface and surrounds the intake hole at the tip of the intake duct. The resonator is formed as a curved surface that is continuous with the front and side surfaces of the resonator and that curves upward and outward, and has a height at least surrounding the lower half of the intake hole. 1). When the vehicle passes through the flood channel, the water scooped up along the resonator is guided to the outside of the intake hole of the intake duct by the waterproof wall, so that the intake duct does not suck the water.
[0007]
The waterproof wall has a double wall structure in which an upper edge is closed, and an internal space of the waterproof wall communicates with an internal space of the resonator (claim 2). The space inside the waterproof wall can be used as a part of the volume of the resonator.
[0008]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
An embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. The intake duct 1 is a tubular body that extends from an unillustrated engine air cleaner toward the front of the vehicle, and an intake hole 10 at the tip thereof extends below a headlight 4 provided at a front corner of an engine room. . An intake hole 10 of the intake duct 1 is opened toward the front of the vehicle so that air flowing into the engine room is sucked through a gap between the headlight 4 and the front bumper 5 and a front end panel 6 interposed therebetween. ing. The intake hole 10 is located at a distance rearward from the front bumper 5 and the front end panel 6 so as not to draw rainwater or the like that enters the engine room from the gap. The intake duct 1 is provided with a resonator 2 that branches off from the intake duct 1. In FIG. 1, 7 is an engine hood, 8 is a front grill, 8 is a radiator.
[0009]
The resonator 2 is a hollow cuboid of blow-molded synthetic resin, and a cylindrical resonator duct 20 communicating with the inside of the resonator 2 is integrally formed near the rear end of the upper surface 21. The resonator 2 is disposed in the space behind the end of the front bumper 5 along the side wall surface W of the engine room, and is bolted to the side wall surface W via a stay (not shown) integrally formed with the resonator 2. The resonator duct 20 is connected to the intake duct 1 by being fitted into a cylindrical opening formed on the lower surface of the outer periphery near the tip of the intake duct 1. The resonator 2 is mounted at a position where the front surface 22 is on the front side of the intake hole 10, and the intake hole 10 is located near the center of the upper surface 21 of the resonator 2 in the width direction.
[0010]
The waterproof wall 3 protruding upward is integrally formed on the resonator 2 along the front edge of the upper surface 21 and the side edge on the vehicle inner side. The waterproof wall 3 has an L-shape in plan view (FIG. 2) in which a front portion 3a along the front edge and a side portion 3b along the side edge are continuous, and is in front of the intake hole 10 and inside the distal end of the intake duct 1. Are formed so as to surround in series. The waterproof wall 3 is composed of an outer wall 31 connected to the front surface 22 and the inner side surface 23 of the resonator 2 and an inner wall 32 connected to the upper surface 21 of the resonator 2. Communicates with the space in the resonator 2.
[0011]
The front surface portion 3a of the waterproof wall 3 is a curved surface in which the outer wall 31 gradually protrudes upward from the front surface 22 of the resonator 2, and the side surface portion 3b is such that the outer wall 31 extends upward from the inner surface 23 of the resonator 2. It is a curved surface that gradually projects toward the inside of the vehicle. The height of the waterproof wall 3 is the same for both the front surface portion 3a and the side surface portion 3b, and the upper end edge is located at substantially the same height as the central axis of the intake duct 1.
[0012]
When the vehicle passes through a puddle or a flood channel during traveling, the water that has been splashed toward the front surface 22 and the inner surface 23 of the resonator 2 is swept up along the front surface 22 and the inner surface 23. Then, the outer wall 31 rises along the outer wall 31 of the waterproof wall 3. Since the outer wall 31 has a curved surface that curves upward and outward , the water does not climb over the upper edge of the waterproof wall 3 and the outer wall 31 Water is drained substantially horizontally outward or downward. Therefore, water does not reach the intake hole 10 above the resonator 2, and the intake duct 1 does not suck in water.
[0013]
Further, since the inside of the waterproof wall 3 is hollow and the internal space is communicated with the inside of the resonator 2, the internal space of the waterproof wall 3 can be used as a part of the internal volume of the resonator 2. The outer shape of the resonator 2 can be reduced by the volume of the space.
[0014]
In the above-described embodiment, the waterproof wall 3 is set to have a height surrounding the lower half of the intake hole 10. However, the waterproof wall 3 may be higher than this, as long as the intake of the air by the intake duct is not hindered. In the above-described embodiment, since the resonator 2 is mounted so that the outer surface thereof is in contact with the side wall surface W in the engine room, it is not necessary to form the waterproof wall 3 on the outer surface. When mounting away from the wall surface W, it is desirable to form a waterproof wall also on the outer surface side.
[0015]
【The invention's effect】
According to the present invention, without providing a separate member for the resonator, the structure has a simple waterproof wall formed integrally with the resonator, and dams the water scooped up along the resonator when the vehicle passes through the flood channel. Water can be prevented.
