Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a head chip manufacturing method, a liquid ejecting head, and a liquid ejecting apparatus.
In recent years, ink jet type liquid ejecting heads have been used in which ink droplets are ejected onto recording paper or the like to draw characters and figures, or liquid material is ejected onto the surface of an element substrate to form a functional thin film.
In this method, ink or liquid material is supplied from a liquid tank to a liquid ejecting head via a supply pipe, and ink or liquid material filled in the channel is discharged from a nozzle communicating with the channel. When ink is ejected, a liquid ejecting head or a recording medium for recording the ejected liquid is moved to record characters and figures, or a functional thin film having a predetermined shape is formed.
In a head chip of this type of liquid ejecting head, it is necessary to accurately form drive electrodes on the wall surface of the drive wall, that is, the inner wall surface of the channel, in order to eject ink droplets appropriately. For this reason, various techniques have been proposed as head chip manufacturing methods.
For example, the following head chip manufacturing method has been proposed.
That is, first, a conductive thin film is deposited on a head chip provided with a groove in advance by vapor deposition, sputtering, plating, or the like. Next, a photoresist is applied on the conductive thin film. Next, exposure and development are performed through a photomask having a predetermined pattern to form a resist mask in which the upper surface of the partition wall is exposed. Next, the exposed portion of the conductive thin film is removed by wet etching or dry etching to form a drive electrode. Then, the resist mask is stripped by a stripping solution or oxygen plasma treatment (see, for example, Patent Document 1).
Further, the following head chip manufacturing method has been proposed.
That is, after a photosensitive resist is applied to the driving electrode forming surface of the head chip, the photosensitive chip is exposed and developed to expose the portion of the head chip that requires driving electrode formation. Next, the portion of the head chip that does not require driving electrode formation is covered with a photosensitive resist, and the head chip surface is etched with an acidic etchant. Then, after applying a catalyst to the etched head chip surface, drive electrodes are formed (see, for example, Patent Document 2).
However, in the above-mentioned
Further, in the above-mentioned
Therefore, the present invention has been made in view of the above-described circumstances, and a head chip manufacturing method that can prevent deterioration during the manufacture of the head chip while reducing the number of manufacturing steps, and the manufacturing method.

Next, the
FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the head chip, and FIG. 4 is an exploded perspective view of the head chip.
As shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the

As shown in FIGS. 4 to 6, the
The
Since the
In the present embodiment, of the side surfaces of the
A plurality of
The plurality of
Among these, the

Each
On the other hand, dummy electrodes (drive electrodes) 52 are respectively formed on a pair of side wall surfaces facing the first direction L2 in the inner wall surface of the
The
At this time, the
The
In addition, as a method of electrically separating the
Under such a configuration, when the
As shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the
As shown in FIG. 6, the
The
As shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the
The
The
The
(Operation of liquid jet recording device)
The operation when information is recorded on the recording medium S by the liquid
In this case, as shown in FIG. 1, for example, while the recording medium S is transported in the transport direction Y by the pair of
As a result, various kinds of information such as characters and figures can be recorded on the recording medium S using four colors of ink.

First, as shown in FIG. 7, the
Next, after the mounting
Specifically, the photosensitive
Next, as shown in FIGS. 7 and 8, cutting is performed with a dicing blade or the like (not shown) so that the plurality of
Note that the order of the exposure / development step S2 and the channel formation step S3 may be reversed as long as a desired pattern can be formed on the photosensitive
Moreover, when forming the
Next, a process of forming each electrode of the
Specifically, a catalyst application step S10 for applying a catalyst to the
The catalyst application step S10 includes a first catalyst application step S10A for applying a catalyst while applying ultrasonic vibration of a predetermined frequency to the aqueous solution, and a second catalyst application step S10B for applying a catalyst without applying ultrasonic vibration to the aqueous solution. , At least once each in random order.
Each of these steps will be described in detail. In the present embodiment, the case where the second catalyst application step S10B is performed after the first catalyst application step S10A is performed will be described as an example.
First, as a preparation step for performing the catalyst application step S10, the
Next, the
Next, a first etching process is performed to roughen the surface of the actuator plate 40 (form a crevice-shaped dent) to provide an anchor effect (first etching process step S6). Specifically, after the
Next, a second etching process is performed to gently remove the crevasse-shaped dent portion formed by roughening to eliminate an excessive dent (second etching process step S7). Specifically, after the
Next, the
Then, 1st catalyst provision process S10A is performed.
In this step, first, a sensitizing process (sensitizing step S20) is performed in which the
Specifically, stannous chloride aqueous solution, for example, “PT-3” manufactured by World Metal Co., Ltd. (tin (II) chloride dihydrate 4 w% + inorganic acids 14 w% + hydrogen chloride 8 w% + water 74 w%, pH <1) is performed by dipping for about 15 to 120 seconds.
Next, the
Specifically, palladium chloride solution such as “PT-4” manufactured by World Metal Co., Ltd. (hydrogen chloride 1 w% + palladium salt 0.15 w% + inorganic salt 0.5 w% + water 98.35 w%, pH = 1) And soaking for about 15 to 120 seconds.
And in this 1st catalyst provision process S10A, in any of above-mentioned sensitizing process S20 and activating process S22, it carries out, for example, adding the ultrasonic vibration which vibrates with a frequency of 20 kHz-100 kHz to each aqueous solution.
As a result, stannous chloride and palladium chloride can be actively diffused to enter the inside of the
Next, after lightly washing the
In this second catalyst applying step S10B, since ultrasonic vibration is not applied, stannous chloride and palladium chloride are not actively introduced into the
In this way, the first catalyst application step S10A and the second catalyst application step S10B are performed once while appropriately using them, so that the entire inner wall surface (bottom wall surface and side wall surface) of each
例えば、Ni(ニッケル)、Co(コバルト)、Cu(銅)、Al(アルミニウム)等が挙げられ、特にNiを用いることが好ましい。
And after 2nd catalyst provision process S10B is complete | finished, the electroless plating which deposits the metal film M on the part to which the metal palladium Pd was provided by immersing the
The electrode metal used in the electroless plating step S11 is not particularly limited. For example, Ni (nickel), Co (cobalt), Cu (copper), Al (aluminum) and the like can be mentioned, and it is particularly preferable to use Ni.
Here, the metal coating M is composed of two metal coatings M1 and M2. Specifically, the metal coating M is composed of a base metal coating M1 made of Ni-B and a finish metal coating M2 made of gold. For this reason, in the electroless plating step S11, first, the base metal film M1 is deposited (see FIG. 11), and then the finish metal film M2 is deposited thereon (see FIG. 12).
Thereafter, the mounting
At this stage, the
Finally, the production of the
As described above, in the above-described embodiment, when the metal film M is formed on the
Further, when the metal film M is formed on the
Further, in forming a plurality of
The present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiment, and includes various modifications made to the above-described embodiment without departing from the spirit of the present invention.
For example, in the above-described embodiment, the metal film M formed on the
In the above-described embodiment, when performing the electroless plating step S11, in addition to adding a surfactant (pit preventing agent) to the plating solution, it is preferable to rock at a predetermined speed.
By doing in this way, it becomes easy to remove the bubble which generate | occur | produces in the case of electroless-plating, and plating defects, such as the adhesion defect resulting from this bubble and the surface roughness, can be suppressed.
Further, in the above-described embodiment, the first catalyst application step S10A is performed first, and then the second catalyst application step S10B is performed. However, since the order is not the same as described above, the second catalyst application step S10A is performed. After performing grant process S10B previously, you may perform 1st catalyst provision process S10A.
However, as in the above-described embodiment, it is preferable to perform the first catalyst application step S10A first, and then perform the second catalyst application step S10B. By doing in this way, first, metallic palladium Pd can be mainly deposited on the bottom wall surface of each
Thus, since the metal palladium Pd can be deposited in order from the bottom wall surface side of each
Moreover, although the case where 1st catalyst provision process S10A and 2nd catalyst provision process S10B were performed once was demonstrated in the above-mentioned embodiment, it is not limited to this case and either process is performed twice. You may perform above, and you may perform both processes twice or more. In these cases, the electroless plating step S11 may be performed each time the first catalyst application step S10A and the second catalyst application step S10B are performed, or the first catalyst application step S10A and the second catalyst application step S10B. The electroless plating step S11 may be performed after continuously performing the above.
In any case, in the catalyst application step S10, the first catalyst application step S10A and the second catalyst application step S10B may be performed at least once in a random order.
In particular, the second catalyst application step S10B is preferably performed continuously and repeatedly.
In this way, the amount of metal palladium Pd deposited mainly on one
In addition, when performing 2nd catalyst provision process S10B repeatedly, you may change gradually the dilution density | concentration of aqueous solution, specifically the dilution density | concentration of "PT-3" and "PT-4" mentioned above. By doing in this way, it is easy to adjust the deposition amount of metal palladium Pd, for example.
