Abstract
Description
本発明は、光導波路ならびに該光導波路を用いたSPRセンサセルおよび比色センサセルに関する。 The present invention relates to an optical waveguide, and an SPR sensor cell and a colorimetric sensor cell using the optical waveguide.
近年、検知部に光導波路を用いたSPRセンサセルが提案されている(特許文献1)。光導波路は、一般にコアとクラッドとから構成されており、コア内で光を導波させる。ここで、コアに応力等がかかると応力ひずみによって屈折率が局所的に変化するために、導波光が散乱し、伝搬損失が生じ得るという問題がある。特に、コアの一部がクラッドから露出している場合には、当該問題の影響が大きい。 In recent years, an SPR sensor cell using an optical waveguide as a detection unit has been proposed (Patent Document 1). The optical waveguide is generally composed of a core and a clad, and guides light within the core. Here, when stress or the like is applied to the core, the refractive index locally changes due to stress strain, so that there is a problem that guided light may be scattered and propagation loss may occur. In particular, when a part of the core is exposed from the clad, the influence of the problem is great.
上記問題の解決方法としては、クラッドを硬くして応力がかかり難くすることが考えられる。しかしながら、クラッドを硬くすると、熱サイクル等に供された際にコアとクラッドとの間に剥がれが生じる場合がある。したがって、応力ひずみに起因する伝搬損失が抑制され、かつ、熱サイクルにおける剥離の問題が改善された光導波路が求められる。 As a solution to the above problem, it is conceivable to harden the clad to make it difficult to apply stress. However, if the clad is hardened, peeling may occur between the core and the clad when subjected to a thermal cycle or the like. Accordingly, there is a demand for an optical waveguide in which propagation loss due to stress strain is suppressed and the problem of delamination in a thermal cycle is improved.
An optical waveguide of the present invention includes a cladding layer and a core layer embedded in the cladding layer so that at least one surface is exposed, and the storage elastic modulus of the cladding layer is 0.15 GPa or more, The difference between the linear expansion coefficient of the layer and the linear expansion coefficient of the core layer is 0.3 × 10 −4 / ° C. or less.
In one embodiment, the clad layer includes a clad layer forming resin and particles dispersed in the clad layer forming resin.
In one embodiment, the filling rate of the particles in the cladding layer is 2% to 50%.
In one embodiment, the average particle diameter (φ) of the particles is 200 nm to 2.5 μm.
According to another aspect of the present invention, an SPR sensor cell is provided. The SPR sensor cell has the optical waveguide.
According to yet another aspect of the present invention, a colorimetric sensor cell is provided. The colorimetric sensor cell has the optical waveguide.
本発明によれば、光導波路のコア層の線膨張率とクラッド層の線膨張率との差を大きくすることなく、クラッド層の硬度を増大することにより、熱サイクルにおける剥がれおよび応力ひずみに起因する光損失が抑制された光導波路が得られ得る。 According to the present invention, the hardness of the cladding layer is increased without increasing the difference between the linear expansion coefficient of the core layer of the optical waveguide and the linear expansion coefficient of the cladding layer. Thus, an optical waveguide with suppressed optical loss can be obtained.
[A. Optical waveguide]
The optical waveguide of the present invention includes a clad layer having a predetermined storage elastic modulus, and a core layer embedded in the clad layer so that at least one surface is exposed. The optical loss (propagation loss) of the optical waveguide of the present invention at a wavelength of 660 nm is, for example, less than 2.6 dB / cm, preferably 2.0 dB / cm or less, more preferably 1.5 dB / cm or less. If the optical loss is within the range, it can be suitably used for a sensor cell detection unit such as an SPR sensor cell or a colorimetric sensor cell described later. Optical loss is measured by the cutback method.
図1は、本発明の好ましい実施形態による光導波路を説明する概略斜視図である。図示例において、光導波路100は、クラッド層11と、上面が露出するようにクラッド層11に埋設されたコア層12とから構成されており、平面視略矩形の平板状に形成されている。クラッド層の厚み(コア層上面からの厚み)は、例えば5μm〜400μmである。なお、図示例とは異なり、コア層は上面と下面とがクラッド層から露出していてもよい。

The
Any appropriate particles can be used as the particles. For example, the particles are preferably formed from a material having a refractive index of 1.40 to 3.00, more preferably 1.43 to 2.60. When such a material is used, there is an advantage that the refractive index of the cladding layer can be easily adjusted to a desired range. Also, for example, the particles are preferably formed from a material having an extinction coefficient of 0.1 or less, more preferably 0. In the present specification, the refractive index means a refractive index at a wavelength of 830 nm. The extinction coefficient means an extinction coefficient at a wavelength of 830 nm.
Specific examples of the particle forming material include metals and inorganic oxides. Preferred examples of the metal include titanium, tantalum, aluminum, zinc, chromium, iron and the like. Examples of the inorganic oxide include metal oxides (for example, titanium oxide (TiO 2 ), tantalum oxide (Ta 2 O 5 ), aluminum oxide (Al 2 O 3 ), zinc oxide (ZnO), and chromium oxide (Cr 2 O 3 ), iron oxide (Fe 2 O 3 ), copper oxide (CuO)) and metalloid oxides (eg, boron oxide (B 2 O 3 ), silicon oxide (SiO 2 ), germanium oxide (GeO 2 )) Can be preferably exemplified. As said particle | grain, only 1 type may be used and it may be used in combination of 2 or more types.
The average particle diameter (φ) of the particles is, for example, 10 nm to 5 μm. The lower limit of the average particle diameter is preferably 200 nm, more preferably 300 nm. Further, the upper limit of the average particle diameter is preferably 2.5 μm, more preferably 2.0 μm. With such an average particle size, the hardness can be increased while adjusting the difference in linear expansion coefficient with the core layer to a desired range. In addition, in this specification, an average particle diameter means a median diameter. The average particle size of the above particles in the cladding layer is, for example, based on laser diffraction / scattering particle size distribution measurement or image processing of an SEM image of a cross section of the cladding layer to obtain a particle size distribution, and a volume-based particle size obtained therefrom It can be obtained based on the distribution.
As the cladding layer forming resin, any appropriate resin capable of forming a cladding layer having a refractive index lower than the refractive index of the core layer described later is used. Specific examples include fluororesins, epoxy resins, polyimide resins, polyamide resins, silicone resins, acrylic resins, and modified products thereof (for example, fluorene-modified products, deuterium-modified products, and fluorine-modified products other than fluororesins). Can be mentioned. These may be used alone or in combination of two or more. These can be used as a photosensitive material, preferably by blending a photosensitive agent.
クラッド層形成樹脂の屈折率は、上記粒子の屈折率より低い。クラッド層形成樹脂の屈折率と粒子の屈折率との差は、好ましくは0.03以上であり、より好ましくは0.05以上、さらに好ましくは0.07以上、さらにより好ましくは、0.10以上である。 The refractive index of the cladding layer forming resin is lower than the refractive index of the particles. The difference between the refractive index of the cladding layer forming resin and the refractive index of the particles is preferably 0.03 or more, more preferably 0.05 or more, still more preferably 0.07 or more, and even more preferably 0.10. That's it.
クラッド層形成樹脂の屈折率は、好ましくは1.42以下であり、より好ましくは1.40未満であり、さらに好ましくは1.38以下である。 The refractive index of the clad layer forming resin is preferably 1.42 or less, more preferably less than 1.40, and even more preferably 1.38 or less.
クラッド層11における上記粒子の充填率は、例えば1%〜50%である。充填率の下限は、好ましくは2%、より好ましくは3%、さらに好ましくは5%である。また、充填率の上限は、好ましくは30%、より好ましくは25%である。このような充填率であれば、コア層との線膨張率の差を所望の範囲に調整しつつ、クラッド層の硬度を増大させることができる。
The filling rate of the particles in the
クラッド層11の屈折率(NCL)は、上記粒子の屈折率(NPA)よりも低い。クラッド層の屈折率と粒子の屈折率との差(NPA−NCL)は、好ましくは0.03以上であり、より好ましくは0.05以上、さらに好ましくは0.07以上、さらにより好ましくは、0.10以上である。
The refractive index (N CL ) of the
クラッド層11の貯蔵弾性率は、例えば0.15GPa以上であり、好ましくは0.20GPa以上であり、より好ましくは0.25GPa以上である。このような貯蔵弾性率であれば、コア層の応力ひずみを低減し得る。また、該貯蔵弾性率は、例えば10GPa以下である。
The storage elastic modulus of the
コア層12は、クラッド層11の幅方向および厚み方向の両方と直交する方向に延びる略角柱形状に形成され、クラッド層11の幅方向略中央部の上端部に埋設されている。コア層12の延びる方向が、光導波路内を光が伝播する方向となる。
The
コア層12は、その上面がクラッド層11の上面と面一となるように配置されている。コア層の上面がクラッド層の上面と面一となるように配置することにより、後述するSPRセンサセルまたは比色センサセルにおいて金属層や保護層をコア層の上側のみに効率よく配置することができる。さらに、コア層は、その延びる方向の両端面がクラッド層の当該方向の両端面と面一となるように配置されている。
The
The refractive index (N CO ) of the
The refractive index (N CO ) of the
The difference between the linear expansion coefficient of the
コア層12の厚みは、例えば5μm〜200μmであり、好ましくは20μm〜200μmである。また、コア層の幅は、例えば5μm〜200μmであり、好ましくは20μm〜200μmである。このような厚みおよび/または幅であれば、光導波路100をいわゆるマルチモードとすることができる。また、コア層12の長さ(導波路長)は、例えば2mm〜50mmであり、好ましくは10mm〜20mmである。
The thickness of the
コア層12を形成する材料としては、本発明の効果が得られる限りにおいて任意の適切な材料を用いることができる。例えば、クラッド層形成樹脂と同様の樹脂であって、屈折率がクラッド層よりも高くなるように調整された樹脂から形成され得る。
As a material for forming the
なお、図1では、コア層の数が1つとされているが、コア層の数は、目的に応じて変更してもよい。具体的には、コア層は、クラッド層の幅方向に所定の間隔を隔てて複数形成されてもよい。コア層の形状もまた、目的に応じて任意の適切な形状(例えば、半円柱形状、凸柱形状)を採用することができる。 In FIG. 1, the number of core layers is one, but the number of core layers may be changed according to the purpose. Specifically, a plurality of core layers may be formed at a predetermined interval in the width direction of the cladding layer. As the shape of the core layer, any appropriate shape (for example, a semi-cylindrical shape or a convex column shape) can be adopted depending on the purpose.

Examples of the material for forming the metal layer include gold, silver, platinum, copper, aluminum, and alloys thereof. The metal layer may be a single layer or may have a laminated structure of two or more layers. The thickness of the metal layer (when having a laminated structure, the total thickness of all layers) is preferably 20 nm to 70 nm, and more preferably 30 nm to 60 nm.
易接着層を形成する材料としては、代表的にはクロムまたはチタンが挙げられる。易接着層の厚みは、好ましくは1nm〜5nmである。 As a material for forming the easy-adhesion layer, chrome or titanium is typically given. The thickness of the easy adhesion layer is preferably 1 nm to 5 nm.
As shown in FIG. 2, the over clad

Examples of the material for forming the over clad
As mentioned above, although the SPR sensor cell by preferable embodiment of this invention has been demonstrated, this invention is not limited to these. For example, a protective layer may be provided between the

<実施例1>
<Example 1>
An optical waveguide film was produced by the method shown in FIG. Specifically, the core layer forming material was dropped on the surface of a mold (length: 200 mm, width: 200 mm) in which a concave portion for forming a core layer having a width of 50 μm and a thickness (depth) of 50 μm was formed on the surface. One end of the corona-treated surface of a PP film (thickness: 40 μm) having a corona-treated one surface was brought into contact with the surface of the mold, and the other end was warped. In this state, the roller was rotated toward the other end side while pressing the roller from the PP film side against the contact portion between the mold and the PP film, and the two were bonded together. Thereby, the core layer forming material was filled in the concave portion of the mold, and the excess core layer forming material was extruded. Next, the obtained laminate was irradiated with ultraviolet rays from the PP film side, and the core layer forming material was completely cured to form a core layer (refractive index: 1.384). The core layer forming material is composed of 60 parts by weight of fluorine-based UV curable resin (DIC, trade name “OP38Z”) and 40 parts by weight of fluorine-based UV curable resin (DIC, trade name “OP40Z”). Was prepared by stirring and dissolving. Next, the PP film was peeled from the mold, and a substantially prismatic core layer having a thickness of 50 μm and a width of 50 μm was transferred onto the film.
A cladding layer forming material was applied on the PP film so as to cover the core layer. The clad layer forming material is composed of 93.5 parts by weight of fluorine-based UV curable resin (manufactured by Solvay Specialty Polymer Japan, trade name “Fluorolink MD700”, refractive index: 1.348) and silica particles (manufactured by Admatech Co., Ltd., The product name “Admafine SC1500-SMJ” and a refractive index of 1.45) were prepared by mixing 6.5 parts by weight. At this time, the coating was applied so that the thickness from the core layer surface (upper surface) was 100 μm. Next, ultraviolet light was applied to cure the clad layer forming material to form a clad layer, and then the PP film was peeled off and the clad layer and the core layer were turned upside down. An optical waveguide film having a core layer embedded in was fabricated.

上記実施例および比較例で得られた各光導波路フィルムの評価結果を表1に示す。
表1から明らかなように、実施例の光導波路は、熱サイクルに供されてもクラッド層とコア層との間に剥がれが生じなかった。また、外力の負荷に起因する光損失が比較例の光導波路と比べて抑制されていた。これは、コア層の線膨張率とクラッド層の線膨張率との差が所定の範囲内とされ、かつ、クラッド層の硬度が増大されているためと推測される。 As is clear from Table 1, the optical waveguide of the example did not peel off between the clad layer and the core layer even when subjected to thermal cycling. Moreover, the optical loss resulting from the load of external force was suppressed compared with the optical waveguide of the comparative example. This is presumably because the difference between the linear expansion coefficient of the core layer and the linear expansion coefficient of the cladding layer is within a predetermined range, and the hardness of the cladding layer is increased.
本発明の光導波路は、SPRセンサセル、比色センサセル等の検知部として好適に利用され得る。 The optical waveguide of the present invention can be suitably used as a detection unit such as an SPR sensor cell or a colorimetric sensor cell.
