Abstract
【解決手段】液晶表示装置は、一面上に第1電極を有する第1基板と、一面上に第2電極を有する第2基板と、第1基板と第2基板の間に設けられ、90°より小さいプレティルト角を有する略垂直配向に制御された液晶層を備える。第1電極は、液晶層の略中央における液晶分子の配向方向に対して略直交する方向に延びた矩形状の複数の開口部を有する。第1電極と第2電極が平面視において重なる有効表示領域内には、交互に配置された複数の第1領域及び複数の第2領域が設定され、当該複数の第2領域のうちの少なくとも一部に対して前記開口部の相対的位置が相互に一致せず、複数の第1領域には開口部が配置されない。

Claims (4)
- 一面上に第1電極を有する第1基板と、
一面上に第2電極を有する第2基板と、
前記第1基板と前記第2基板の間に設けられ、90°より小さいプレティルト角を有する略垂直配向に制御された液晶層、
を含み、
前記第1電極は、前記液晶層の略中央における液晶分子の配向方向に対して略直交する方向に延びた矩形状の複数の開口部を有し、
前記第1電極と前記第2電極が平面視において重なる有効表示領域内には、相互に互い違いに配置された複数の第1領域及び複数の第2領域が設定され、
前記複数の第2領域のうちの少なくとも一部に対して前記開口部の相対的位置が相互に一致せず、前記複数の第1領域には前記開口部が配置されない、液晶表示装置。 - 前記複数の第2領域の全てに対してそれぞれ2つ以上の前記開口部が配置された、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記プレティルト角が89.5°以下88°以上である、請求項1又は2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1基板の外側に配置された第1偏光板と、
前記第2基板の外側に配置された第2偏光板、
を更に含み、
前記第1偏光板と前記第2偏光板は、各々の吸収軸が略直交し、かつ当該各吸収軸と前記液晶層の略中央における液晶分子の配向方向が略45°の角度をなすように配置された、請求項1〜3の何れか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
