Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an interface-strengthened glass filler and a phenol resin molding material containing the same.
Phenol resin molding materials are excellent in heat resistance, dimensional stability, chemical resistance, moldability, etc., and have been used for a long time in key industries such as automobile parts, industrial machine parts, and home appliances. Furthermore, since replacement of metal parts with high-strength phenol resin molded products reinforced with glass filler enables cost reduction and significant weight reduction, active alternative studies are being conducted.
However, in order to further promote metal replacement in the future, it is necessary to have higher strength than conventional phenol resin molding materials. One way to achieve high strength is to strengthen the interface between the glass filler and the matrix resin. Many methods have been proposed to improve the adhesion to the matrix resin by treating the glass filler with a coupling agent. These treatments are applied to ordinary commercially available glass fillers. However, there is a limit to the effect of improving the strength by these methods, and in order to further investigate metal substitution, it is necessary to further improve the adhesion between the glass filler and the phenol resin. Many attempts have been made to improve the adhesion between the glass filler and the phenolic resin. For example, a method for strengthening the phenolic resin by adding a fiber in which a phenolic resin and a coupling agent are attached to glass fiber is disclosed. (For example, see Patent Documents 1 to 3). However, further improvement in the high adhesion obtained by the above method has been expected.
In addition, as a treatment of the nitrogen-containing compound to the glass filler, for the purpose of improving the wettability of the glass fiber and the phenol resin, a method of reinforcing a molded product by adding a fiber in which hexamine is adhered to the glass fiber is disclosed. (For example, see Patent Document 4). However, the above method can be expected to improve the wettability to the glass filler surface and the curability of the phenol resin in the vicinity of the surface, but is not expected to enhance the interface by improving the adhesion.
The present invention was made in order to provide high strength, which is an indispensable element in proceeding with metal substitution studies using phenolic resin molding materials. By increasing the adhesion between glass filler and phenolic resin, An object of the present invention is to provide an interface-strengthened glass filler capable of improving mechanical strength and a phenol resin molding material using the same.

Even if 300 parts by weight or more of pure water is added, it has water-solubility (water magnification of 3 times or more) that does not cause suspension or clouding. More preferably.
Thereby, in the resole resin of this invention, the handling using water, such as dilution with water at the time of use, and water washing at the time of washing | cleaning, can be made easy. With water-solubility that causes suspension or cloudiness by adding pure water less than the above lower limit amount, it becomes difficult to use water at the time of handling. In such cases, methanol, ethanol, acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, etc. Organic solvents must be used, and environmental health problems are inevitable.

As a result, the interfacial strength may decrease. For these reasons, it is considered preferable to have the above upper limit value, so that even if the boiling point or decomposition temperature alone is less than 100 ° C., the reactivity with the resol type phenolic resin (A) is high, so that the drying treatment is performed. Any remaining compounds can be used.

It is preferable that the quantity of a silane coupling agent (B) is 0.001-0.5 weight part with respect to 100 weight part of glass fillers. If the content is less than the above lower limit, the effect of improving the strength by the coating treatment may be small. If the content exceeds the upper limit, the effect on the strength may not be obtained, the characteristics may vary, and the workability may deteriorate. In some cases, which is also economically disadvantageous.
<Amount of Resin Composition> In the interface-strengthened glass filler of the present invention, the amount of glass filler treated with a resin composition containing a resol-type phenol resin, an amine-based silane coupling agent, and a nitrogen-containing compound is not particularly limited. However, the interface-strengthened glass filler is preferably coated with 0.005 to 10 parts by weight of the resin composition with respect to 100 parts by weight of the glass filler. More preferably, 0.05 to 1 part by weight of the coating treatment is performed.
If the treatment amount is less than the above lower limit value, the effect of improving the strength by the coating treatment may be small, and if the treatment amount exceeds the above upper limit value, the mechanical properties of the resin composition itself are mechanical properties of the molding material containing the interfacial strengthened glass filler It may affect the characteristics, and the effect on strength may not be obtained.
The amount of the above-mentioned treatment varies depending on the specific surface area of the glass filler to be used, and it is preferable to form a treatment layer having a thickness of about 5 to 150 nm on the glass filler surface with the resin composition.
<Material of Glass Filler> The material of the glass filler used in the present invention is not particularly limited, and A glass, E glass, S glass, D glass, high modulus glass, quartz glass, and the like can be used. Among these, it is preferable to use E glass from the viewpoint of strength improvement and cost.
<Glass Filler Form> The form of the glass filler used in the present invention is not particularly limited, but examples of the low aspect ratio glass filler include glass beads, glass balloons, silica, glass powder, and the like, and a high aspect ratio. Examples of the glass filler include glass fiber.
Among these, the low aspect ratio glass filler is preferably glass beads or glass balloons having an average particle diameter of 1 to 500 μm. Thereby, the homogeneity of the molding material obtained improves and the molding material which has stable quality can be obtained.
Moreover, as a glass filler of high aspect ratio, it is preferable that it is a glass fiber with an average fiber diameter of 1-50 micrometers. Thereby, the homogeneity of the molding material obtained improves and the molding material which has stable quality can be obtained.
If necessary, the resin composition used in the present invention may contain a formalin catching agent such as urea, a compound such as various surfactants, and an emulsion such as a urethane resin. Moreover, organic solvents, such as methanol, ethanol, acetone, and methyl ethyl ketone, can also be added.
It is also possible to neutralize the alkaline catalyst used in the synthesis of the resole resin with lactic acid, oxalic acid, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, boric acid or the like.
<Coating treatment method> The method for coating the glass filler with a resin composition containing a resole resin, an amine-based silane coupling agent, and a nitrogen-containing compound is not particularly limited. For example, a resole resin, an amine-based silane coupling agent is used. Prepare a resin composition solution in which all of the nitrogen-containing compound is dissolved, and match the filler form with a method of spraying the resin composition solution on the glass filler, a method of immersing the glass filler in the resin composition solution, etc. Can be used as appropriate. Moreover, when using the glass filler previously processed by the amine-type silane coupling agent, the resin composition solution which melt | dissolved the resole resin and the nitrogen-containing compound is prepared, and the same processing method can be used.
<Drying conditions> Although it does not specifically limit as a drying method of the glass filler by which the coating process was carried out by the said method, The various drying processes with a temperature of 80-150 degreeC are preferable. If the temperature is lower than the lower limit, the solvent removal efficiency and the reaction rate of the amine-based silane coupling agent decrease, and if the temperature exceeds the upper limit, the curing of the resole resin proceeds excessively, and the reaction of the molding material with the matrix resin This may lead to a decrease in adhesion due to a decrease in the properties.
<Estimation of effect> As described above, at least a part of the glass filler surface is coated with a resin composition containing a resol resin, an amine-based silane coupling agent, and a nitrogen-containing compound. By using the tempered glass filler, the mechanical strength of the molded product can be improved when blended into the molding material. The reason for this is not clear, but is presumed as follows.
Normally, the glass filler surface is treated with a coupling agent to improve adhesion, but in the case of phenol resin molding materials, it is used as a ratio of novolac type phenol resin and resol type phenol resin or as a curing agent. Since the polarity of the matrix resin varied depending on the amount of hexamethylenetetramine to be obtained, it was not possible to obtain a glass filler having good adhesion to general phenol resins only by treatment with a coupling agent.
In addition, in the coating treatment with a composition containing novolak-type phenol resin, amine-based silane coupling agent and hexamethylenetetramine, which is one of the prior arts, the reactivity between the novolak-type phenol resin and the matrix resin of the molding material is low. Therefore, it was not possible to obtain a glass filler having good adhesion between the resin used for the coating treatment and the matrix resin.
The interface-strengthened glass filler of the present invention is a glass filler whose surface has been modified by the selective reaction of the amine-based silane coupling agent contained in the resin composition with the silanol groups on the surface of the glass filler during the coating treatment. Thus, it is assumed that the remaining components of the resin composition impart high adhesion between the surface-modified glass filler surface and the matrix resin.
Specifically, at the interface between the glass filler and the resin composition, adhesion due to acid-base interaction between a phenolic hydroxyl group having strong acidity of the resole resin and an amino group having strong basicity of the amine-based silane coupling agent. In addition to the properties, it is presumed that the addition of a nitrogen-containing compound increases the affinity between the glass filler and the resin composition and increases the adhesion strength at the interface. In addition, at the interface between the resin composition and the matrix resin, the resol resin adheres in a state having a methylol group that is highly reactive with the matrix resin. It is estimated that the adhesion strength is increased. By such an effect, it is thought that mechanical strength can be greatly improved in the molded article of the molding material using the interface strengthened glass filler of the present invention.
For the resin composition used in the present invention, it is preferable to use a resole resin having a higher reactivity than a novolac type phenol resin having a low reactivity for the above reason. Thereby, in the interface-strengthened glass filler of the present invention, an interface having high adhesion between the resin composition and the matrix resin can be obtained.
Next, the molding material of the present invention will be described.
The molding material of the present invention contains the above-mentioned interface strengthened glass filler and a phenol resin as a matrix resin.
In the molding material of the present invention, the content of the interface strengthened glass filler is not particularly limited, but is preferably 30 to 70% by weight with respect to the entire molding material. More preferably, it is 45 to 60% by weight. When the content of the interfacial tempered glass filler is less than the above lower limit value, the mechanical strength may be lowered. When the content exceeds the above upper limit value, the content of the phenol resin inevitably decreases, so that the molding material stage Workability and moldability may be reduced.
<Matrix resin> The phenol resin used as the matrix resin in the molding material of the present invention can be used alone or in combination of two or more types of novolac type phenol resins and resol type phenol resins. Preferably, it is a novolak type phenol resin in which hexamethylenetetramine is a curing agent.
The novolak type phenol resin is not particularly limited, and examples thereof include a phenol novolak resin, a cresol novolak resin, a bisphenol A novolak resin, and the like, and the phenol novolak resin is preferable in terms of moldability and cost. The resol type phenol resin is not particularly limited, and examples thereof include an unmodified resol phenol resin, an oil-modified resol phenol resin modified with tung oil, linseed oil, walnut oil, and a dimethylene ether type resole resin. However, it is preferable to use a dimethylene ether type resole resin having good workability in the materialization stage and good properties of the obtained molded product.
<Hardening agent> When a novolac type phenol resin is used in the molding material of the present invention, hexamethylenetetramine is usually used. The content of hexamethylenetetramine is preferably 10 to 20 parts by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight of the novolac type phenol resin. More preferably, it is 14-18 weight part. If the above upper limit is exceeded, unreacted misamethylenetetramine may remain and affect the strength, and if it is less than the lower limit, curing may be insufficient.
<The compounding quantity of a matrix resin> When using a hexamethylenetetramine, it is preferable that content of the said phenol resin is 25 to 50 weight% with respect to the whole molding material. When the above upper limit is exceeded, a molded product having sufficient mechanical strength may not be obtained. Further, if the amount is less than the above lower limit value, the workability at the stage of forming a molding material is lowered, and the fluidity is poor and the moldability may be lowered. Therefore, the above range is desirable.

3. Characteristic evaluation The test piece molding method and evaluation method used for characteristic evaluation are as follows.
The test piece was produced by transfer molding using the molding materials obtained in the above Examples and Comparative Examples. The molding conditions were a mold temperature of 175 ° C. and a curing time of 3 minutes.
The measuring method is as follows.
Bending strength: Measured according to JIS K 6911.
From the results of Tables 3 and 4, all examples are molding materials of the present invention in which the interfacial strengthened glass filler of the present invention is blended, and this molded product is a silane that has been conventionally practiced in bending strength. Comparative example using glass filler treated with coupling agent, glass filler treated with silane coupling agent and resol type phenol resin, glass filler treated with silane coupling agent, novolac type phenol resin and hexamine It showed higher mechanical strength. This tendency was the same even when the matrix phenolic resin was not only a novolak type but also a resol type.
Since the above results are the same except for the coating treatment on the glass filler surface if the matrix resin is the same, the improvement in mechanical strength is due to the interface strengthening due to the improvement in the adhesion between the glass filler and the matrix resin. Conceivable.
From the above results, it was found that by using the interfacial-strengthened glass filler of the present invention, the adhesion between the glass filler and the phenol resin is increased, and the mechanical strength of the molded product of the phenol resin molding material is improved.
The interface-strengthened glass filler of the present invention can improve the mechanical strength of a molded article of a phenol resin molding material. The phenolic resin molding material of the present invention is capable of obtaining a molded product having excellent mechanical strength, and is an alternative to metal parts for automobiles, general-purpose machines, household appliances, and peripheral devices. It can be suitably applied as.
