Abstract
【解決手段】LED(140)組立体と光ガイド(150)との間のカップリング効率を向上させる種々の構成が開示される。第1の構成において、光ガイドの実質的に平面端部が、LED組立体を囲む支持体(142)の外周壁上に固定され、反射面(222)は、光ガイドのカップリング効率を向上させる。代替の構成は、LED組立体と光ガイドとの間に配置された別個のカプラ(220、320、450)を使用し、当該カプラは、光ガイドに配向される実質的にコリメートされた光を生じるよう放物面又は回転楕円体共形を有する。LED組立体の周りでカプラ内のキャビティ(462)は、空気又は光ガイド材料の屈折率に厳密に適合する屈折率を有する材料が存在することができる。

Claims (10)
- 発光ダイオード(LED)(140)を光ガイド(150)にカップリングするための装置であって、
少なくとも第1の方向に光を放出するLED(140)と、
前記LEDに隣接して位置付けられて該LEDから放出される光を受けるための近位端(152)と、前記近位端から遠隔に配置され、前記光ガイドから光が出射する遠位端(154)とを有する光ガイド(150)と、
前記LEDと前記光ガイドの近位端との間に配置され、前記LEDからの高い割合の光を前記光ガイドに伝送するためのカプラ(220、320、450)と、
を備え、
前記カプラが、前記LEDを少なくとも部分的に囲む狭い第1の端部(224)と、前記光ガイドの近位端を少なくとも部分的に囲む幅広の第2の端部(226)とを有する放物又は非球面曲線の内側反射器(222)表面の1つを含む、
装置。 - 前記LEDが、LEDチップを覆う光学ドーム(210)を含み、前記カプラの第1の端部が前記光学ドームの外周を囲む、
