Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a carbon nanotube manufacturing technique.
As a method for producing carbon nanotubes, a chemical vapor deposition method (CVD method) is known (Patent Document 1, etc.). In the CVD method, for example, a silicon substrate on which a catalytic metal such as nickel (Ni) or cobalt (Co) is supported on the outer surface is used as a substrate for growing carbon nanotubes. Specifically, this growth substrate is placed in a heating furnace that is a reaction vessel, heated to a high temperature of about 700 ° C. to 1300 ° C., and a raw material gas such as hydrocarbon is supplied. Then, on the catalyst supporting surface of the growth substrate, carbon atoms thermally decomposed from the raw material gas are synthesized so as to be connected in a cylindrical shape, and a large number of aligned carbon nanotubes grow upward from the catalyst supporting surface. Go. The grown carbon nanotubes are collected from the substrate and twisted to form a carbon nanotube spun fiber.
In the carbon nanotube production step by the CVD method, the heating furnace is maintained at the above-described high temperature until the carbon nanotube is produced. Therefore, it is preferable to improve energy efficiency in the step. However, until now, it has been the situation that has not been fully devised to meet these requirements.
An object of this invention is to provide the technique which can produce | generate a carbon nanotube efficiently using CVD method.
SUMMARY An advantage of some aspects of the invention is to solve at least a part of the problems described above, and the invention can be implemented as the following forms or application examples.
[Application Example 1]
In chemical vapor deposition, a carbon nanotube growth substrate that is housed in a heating furnace and used to generate carbon nanotubes, a catalyst for promoting the generation of carbon nanotubes is supported on the outer surface, and hollow. A carbon nanotube generation layer that selectively permeates hydrogen, formed in a cylindrical shape, a hollow cylindrical solid electrolyte, an anode provided on the outer surface of the solid electrolyte, and a cathode provided on the inner surface of the solid electrolyte A power generation layer disposed under the carbon nanotube generation layer, wherein the power generation layer is generated as a by-product of the carbon nanotube when the carbon nanotube is generated, and the anode is formed from the carbon nanotube generation layer. And hydrogen supplied to the cathode from the outside of the heating furnace. Generating power by utilizing the oxidizing gas, the growth substrate of the carbon nanotube.
According to this carbon nanotube growth substrate, hydrogen, which is a by-product (by-product), can be removed from the reaction field in the carbon nanotube production step, so that the growth of the carbon nanotube can be promoted. In addition, since power generation is performed using hydrogen as a by-product, energy efficiency in the carbon nanotube manufacturing process can be improved.

The

The catalytic metal thin film formed in the step (ii) is heated before the carbon nanotube production step. As a result, the catalyst metal is particulated and dispersed, and the
The
Here, as the raw material gas, aliphatic such as methane (CH 4 ), acetylene (C 2 H 2 ), ethane (C 2 H 6 ), propane (C 3 H 8 ), butane (C 4 H 10 ), etc. Hydrocarbons can be used. Further, a cyclic hydrocarbon having an aromatic ring (6-membered ring) such as benzene (C 6 H 6 ), or a mixed gas in which two or more of these hydrocarbon gases are mixed can be used. Further, as the raw material gas, alcohol such as ethanol (C 2 H 5 OH) can be used instead of the above hydrocarbon.
When the source gas is supplied to the
Chem.C,Vol.112,No.13,2008参照)。
By the way, as the
Therefore, in the carbon nanotube generation process using the
The power generated by the
By the way, in the
Thus, if this
