Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a packaging material for electrochemical cells that exhibits stable heat resistance, water vapor gas barrier properties, moldability, and electrolytic solution resistance.
The lithium ion battery is also referred to as a lithium secondary battery, and includes a liquid, gel-like, or polymer polymer electrolyte, and a positive electrode / negative electrode active material made of a polymer polymer. In this lithium ion battery, the lithium atom (Li) in the lithium transition metal oxide, which is the positive electrode active material, is charged as lithium ion (Li + ) during charging and enters the carbon layer of the negative electrode (intercalation). This is a battery in which charge / discharge reaction proceeds when ions (Li + ) are separated from the carbon layer (deintercalation) and move to the positive electrode to become the original lithium compound. From the nickel-cadmium battery and the nickel-hydrogen battery The output voltage is high, the energy density is high, and the apparent discharge capacity is reduced by repeating shallow discharge and recharging, so that there is no so-called memory effect.
In addition, the configuration of the lithium ion battery is composed of a positive electrode current collector / positive electrode active material layer / electrolyte layer / negative electrode active material layer / negative electrode current collector and an outer package that wraps these, and as a packaging material for forming the outer package, Metal cans that are made by pressing a metal into a cylindrical shape or a rectangular parallelepiped shape have been used.
However, since the outer wall of the container is rigid, the shape of the battery itself is limited, and there is no degree of freedom in shape because it is necessary to design the hardware side to match the battery. Instead, multilayer films tend to be used as packaging materials.

Further, as shown in FIG. 10, water vapor gas may permeate from the
Further, when the packaging material is pressed to form the
In addition, the
Conventionally, in order to solve the above problems, an acid-modified polyolefin resin or a resin having a polyolefin polyol and a polyfunctional isocyanate curing agent disclosed in Patent Document 1 as essential components has been used for the
Therefore, in view of the above problems, the present invention is required for a packaging material for an electrochemical cell used for an exterior body for hermetically storing an electrochemical cell main body such as a lithium ion battery main body, a capacitor, and an electric double layer capacitor. It aims at providing the packaging material provided with all the water vapor | steam gas barrier property, a moldability, and electrolyte solution resistance.
In order to achieve the above object, a packaging material for an electrochemical cell according to the first configuration of the present invention includes a positive electrode comprising a positive electrode active material and a positive electrode current collector, a negative electrode comprising a negative electrode active material and a negative electrode current collector, And an electrolyte filled between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, and is used in an exterior body that houses the electrochemical cell main body in a sealed manner by heat-sealing the peripheral portion, and includes a base material layer and a surface. A packaging material for an electrochemical cell comprising a metal foil layer subjected to chemical conversion treatment and a heat-adhesive resin layer at least sequentially laminated, the metal foil layer and the heat-adhesive resin layer A heat-resistant resin layer is disposed between the metal foil layer and the heat-adhesive resin layer via the acid-modified polyolefin layer.
Further, a second configuration of the present invention is the above-described electrochemical cell packaging material, wherein the heat-resistant resin layer is formed on the surface of the metal foil layer on which the acid-modified polyolefin layer is formed. It is formed by coating a thermosetting resin.
The third configuration of the present invention is the above-described electrochemical cell packaging material, wherein the acid-modified polyolefin layer interposed between the metal foil layer and the heat-resistant resin layer comprises a heat-adhesive resin layer and a heat-resistant resin layer. The melting point is higher than that of the acid-modified polyolefin layer interposed therebetween.
According to a fourth configuration of the present invention, in the above-described electrochemical cell packaging material, the acid-modified polyolefin layer interposed between the metal foil layer and the heat-resistant resin layer is made of an acid-modified polyolefin resin to which an elastomer resin is added. It is configured.
Further, according to a fifth configuration of the present invention, in the packaging material for an electrochemical cell, the resin constituting the acid-modified polyolefin layer interposed between the metal foil layer and the heat resistant resin layer is subjected to corona treatment. It is characterized by that.
According to a sixth aspect of the present invention, in the packaging material for electrochemical cells, the heat-resistant resin layer is composed of a resin mainly composed of an epoxy resin.
According to the first configuration of the present invention, the packaging material for an electrochemical cell is formed by laminating at least a base material layer, a metal foil layer whose surface is subjected to chemical conversion treatment, and a thermal adhesive resin layer. A heat-adhesive resin layer is overlaid, and the outer peripheral portion is heat-sealed to produce an exterior body. A positive electrode composed of a positive electrode active material and a positive electrode current collector, and a negative electrode active material and a negative electrode current collector inside the exterior body The electrochemical cell main body containing the negative electrode which consists of, and the electrolyte filled between a positive electrode and a negative electrode can be sealedly accommodated.
Moreover, the packaging material for electrochemical cells of this structure has a heat-resistant resin layer disposed between the metal foil layer and the heat-adhesive resin layer. As a result, the electrochemical cell main body housed in the exterior body manufactured using the electrochemical cell packaging material of this configuration generates heat, and a part of the thermoadhesive resin layer disposed on the innermost layer side of the exterior body Even when is melted, the heat-resistant resin layer does not melt easily. For this reason, the heat-resistant resin layer blocks the electrolyte that tries to penetrate into the metal foil layer from a part of the molten heat-adhesive resin layer, and short-circuits of the electrochemical cell due to contact between the electrolyte and the metal foil layer are prevented. Can be prevented. Therefore, the packaging material for electrochemical cells of this configuration has excellent heat resistance, and the exterior body made using the packaging material for electrochemical cells of this configuration has excellent insulation against the heat generated inside the exterior body. Have
Moreover, normally, the outer periphery produced using the packaging material for electrochemical cells heat seals the peripheral part including the clamping part in the state which clamped the metal terminal extended from the electrochemical cell main body. At this time, when the temperature inside the exterior body rises due to overcharge or the like, the metal terminal generates heat, and the thermoadhesive resin layer that is the innermost layer of the exterior body may melt at the sandwiched portion of the metal terminal. However, the exterior body manufactured using the packaging material for electrochemical cells of this configuration has a heat-resistant resin layer disposed between the metal foil layer and the heat-adhesive resin layer in the sandwiched portion of the metal terminal. Therefore, even if the heat-adhesive resin layer that is the innermost layer of the outer package is melted, the heat-resistant resin layer is not melted, and the metal terminal and the metal foil layer can be prevented from contacting each other. Thereby, the exterior body produced using the packaging material for electrochemical cells of this configuration can prevent the electrochemical cell from being short-circuited.
Moreover, the heat resistant resin layer is bonded to the metal foil layer and the heat adhesive resin layer through an acid-modified polyolefin layer. Since the acid-modified polyolefin layer exhibits stable adhesion to the metal foil layer, the adhesion between the metal foil layer and the heat-resistant resin layer is stabilized. Further, since the acid-modified polyolefin layer exhibits stable adhesion to the heat-adhesive resin layer, the adhesion between the heat-adhesive resin layer and the heat-resistant resin layer is also stable. In addition, since the acid-modified polyolefin layer is also excellent in water vapor gas barrier properties, followability, elasticity, and electrolyte solution resistance, the water vapor gas barrier properties, moldability, and electrolyte solution resistance are stable throughout the packaging material for electrochemical cells of this configuration. Can be granted.
According to the second configuration of the present invention, in the packaging material for an electrochemical cell, a heat-resistant resin is coated on the surface of the metal foil layer on which the acid-modified polyolefin layer is formed by coating a thermosetting resin on the acid-modified polyolefin layer. By forming the layer, the heat-resistant resin layer can be thinned while ensuring predetermined heat resistance. Normally, when the embossed part is formed by pressing a packaging material, the stretchability of the metal foil layer and the heat-adhesive resin layer is different, so that the resin layer disposed between the metal foil layer and the heat-adhesive resin layer has a certain amount. If there is no followability and elasticity, the metal foil layer and the heat-adhesive resin layer may peel off, but the packaging material for electrochemical cells of this configuration is formed by coating a heat-resistant resin layer. As a result, the followability and elasticity of the laminated portion composed of the acid-modified polyolefin layer / heat-resistant resin layer / acid-modified polyolefin layer are stabilized. Therefore, stable formability can be imparted to the entire packaging material for electrochemical cells of this configuration.
According to the third configuration of the present invention, in the packaging material for an electrochemical cell, the acid-modified polyolefin layer interposed between the metal foil layer and the heat-resistant resin layer includes a heat-adhesive resin layer and a heat-resistant resin layer. Since the melting point is higher than the acid-modified polyolefin layer interposed between the heat-adhesive resin layer and the heat-resistant resin layer melted by the heat at the time of heat sealing, It is possible to prevent the acid-modified polyolefin layer interposed between the metal foil layer and the heat resistant resin layer from melting. For this reason, when the packaging material for electrochemical cells of this structure is heat-sealed, the shape of the laminated portion composed of the metal foil layer / acid-modified polyolefin layer / heat-resistant resin layer is stabilized. For this reason, after heat sealing, it can prevent that a flaw generate | occur | produces in the packaging material for electrochemical cells, and can prevent that a metal foil layer and a heat resistant resin layer peel. Therefore, stable formability can be imparted to the entire packaging material for electrochemical cells of this configuration. In addition, water vapor that permeates through the heat-resistant resin layer from the end face of the exterior body in the heat seal portion and penetrates into the exterior body is reduced by thinning the heat-resistant resin layer, improving the water vapor gas barrier property of the exterior body Can be made.
According to a fourth configuration of the present invention, in the packaging material for an electrochemical cell, the acid-modified polyolefin layer interposed between the metal foil layer and the heat-resistant resin layer is composed of an acid-modified polyolefin resin to which an elastomer resin is added. Therefore, the followability, elasticity, water vapor gas barrier property, and electrolytic solution resistance of the acid-modified polyolefin resin itself to which the elastomer resin is added are improved. As a result, the packaging material for electrochemical cells of this configuration prevents deterioration over time regardless of whether the acid-modified polyolefin layer to which the elastomer is added melts or not, even when the electrochemical cell is used for a long time. High safety can be ensured. And even when the heat-sealed part is bent, the acid-modified polyolefin layer is prevented from whitening, cracking, breaking, etc., and the acid-modified polyolefin layer and the metal foil layer are prevented from peeling off, and the packaging material for electrochemical cells The moldability of can be improved.
According to the fifth configuration of the present invention, in the above-described electrochemical cell packaging material, the acid-modified polyolefin layer interposed between the metal foil layer and the heat-resistant resin layer is subjected to corona treatment, whereby the heat-resistant resin layer is obtained. And the acid-modified polyolefin layer subjected to corona treatment are stabilized. As a result, the packaging material for an electrochemical cell of this configuration has a stable adhesive strength of the laminated portion composed of the metal foil layer / acid-modified polyolefin layer / heat resistant resin layer, and prevents the laminated portion from peeling off. it can.
According to the sixth configuration of the present invention, in the packaging material for electrochemical cells, the heat resistance of the heat resistant resin layer can be improved by configuring the heat resistant resin layer with a resin mainly composed of an epoxy resin. it can. Thereby, the exterior body shape | molded using the packaging material for electrochemical structures of this structure has the outstanding insulation with respect to the heat_generation | fever inside an exterior body.
The present invention is a packaging material for electrochemical cells that is excellent in heat resistance, electrolytic solution resistance, water vapor gas barrier properties, and moldability. One embodiment of the packaging material for electrochemical cells of the present invention will be described in more detail with reference to the drawings. Note that the description of the portions common to FIGS. 4 to 10 in the conventional example is omitted.
FIG. 1 is a cross-sectional view showing the layer structure of the electrochemical
FIG. 2 shows a lithium ion battery in which a lithium ion battery body 22 (not shown in FIG. 2) is hermetically housed in a pouch-
Moreover, the
In addition, as shown in FIG. 2, the
The heat-
Moreover, in the
Here, the thermosetting resin that forms the heat-
As shown in FIG. 3, when the electrochemical
Further, since the heat-
In the
Moreover, the
In addition, in the electrochemical
Next, each layer which comprises the
Polypropylene is suitably used as the heat-
Each of the above types of polypropylene, ie, random polypropylene, homopolypropylene, and block polypropylene, includes a low crystalline ethylene-butene copolymer, a low crystalline propylene-butene copolymer, and a three-component copolymer of ethylene, butene, and propylene. An antiblocking agent (AB agent) such as a polymer terpolymer, silica, zeolite, or acrylic resin beads, a fatty acid amide slip agent, or the like may be added.
Further, the heat-
Next, the

As shown in 3) to 7), mechanical suitability of packaging materials (stability of conveyance in packaging machines and processing machines), surface protection (heat resistance and electrolyte resistance), secondary processing In order to protect the
The same effect can be obtained when stretched polybutylene terephthalate or polyethylene naphthalate is used in place of the stretched polyethylene terephthalate. The
Next, the
Moreover, in order to improve the generation of pinholes and to make the outer body type of the lithium ion battery an embossed type, the material of aluminum used as the
As a result, compared with aluminum that does not contain iron, aluminum has good spreadability, and the occurrence of pinholes due to bending as an exterior body is reduced, and the side wall can be easily formed when embossing the packaging material. it can. When the iron content is less than 0.3% by weight, effects such as prevention of pinholes and improvement of embossing formability are not observed, and the iron content of aluminum exceeds 9.0% by weight. In this case, the flexibility as aluminum is hindered, and the bag-making property as a packaging material is deteriorated.
In addition, aluminum produced by cold rolling changes its flexibility, waist strength and hardness under annealing (so-called annealing treatment) conditions, but the aluminum used in the present invention is harder than the non-annealed hard-treated product. Aluminum which tends to be soft with some or complete annealing is preferred.
That is, the annealing conditions may be appropriately selected in accordance with processability (pouching, embossing). For example, in order to prevent wrinkles and pinholes during emboss molding, soft aluminum annealed according to the degree of molding can be used.
Moreover, by performing a chemical conversion treatment on the front and back surfaces of the aluminum that is the
Next, the chemical
Specifically, prevention of delamination between the
The chemical
In addition, as a method for forming the chemical
