Abstract
Description
「エポキシ樹脂」は、多数のエポキシ基を含む広範な化学品を意味する。エポキシ樹脂は当業者には周知であり、Encyclopedia of Polymer Science and Engineering, Volume 6, pp. 322-382 (1986)の第二版の「エポキシ樹脂」と題する章に記載されている。固体、半固体、及び液体のエポキシ樹脂が熱膨張性材料に使用するために適当である。一つ以上のエポキシ樹脂を使用してよい。
「熱可塑性ポリマー」は、加熱されると軟化し、冷却されると硬化するポリマーであることが当業者には周知である。一般的に、熱可塑性ポリマーは著しい化学変化無しに多数の加熱/冷却サイクルを経ることができ、このため射出成形、熱成形等には理想的である。適当な熱膨張性材料中には、少なくとも一つの改質もしくは「活性化」された熱可塑性ポリマーが含まれ、且つ少なくとも一つの未改質熱可塑性ポリマーが含まれる。
適当な熱膨張性材料は少なくとも一つの湿度安定化剤を含む。湿度安定化剤は、熱膨張性材料が未硬化の状態で湿分にさらされた場合にその膨張性能の相当量を失うことを回避する。適当な湿度安定化剤はワックス、更に好ましくはポリエチレンワックスまたはミクロクリスタリンワックスまたはパラフィンワックスである。
「加熱によって活性化される発泡剤」は、時に当業者によって「起泡剤」と呼称され、規定の熱の適用に際してそのホストを規定量膨張させる物理性剤または化学性剤である。加熱によって活性化される発泡剤の例は、ここにその全体を取り込むこととする米国特許第6451876号に発泡剤として記載されている。
熱膨張性材料は、1つ以上の充填材を任意に含んで良い。1つ以上の充填材を使用して良い。米国特許第6562884号は既知の充填材を開示しており、これは参照のためにここに取り込むこととする。
熱膨張性材料は、製剤に添加されて該製剤の衝撃耐性を改善するあらゆる物質を意味する「タフナー(toughener)」としても既知である「衝撃改質剤」を、任意に含んで良い。多くの市販の衝撃改質剤が当業者に知られており、熱膨張性材料中における使用に適当である。一つの適当な衝撃改質剤はスチレンブタジエンラバーである。天然もしくは合成のエラストマーを熱膨張性材料中に配合して良い。理論に縛られることなく、衝撃改質剤は好ましい熱膨張性材料に可撓性を付与し、その融解挙動を変更しうる。適当な衝撃改質剤には、以下に限定されるものではないが、標準的なゴム(SBR、EPDM等);予め架橋したゴム、熱可塑性エラストマー/ブロックポリマー、アイオノマー性熱可塑性エラストマー、及び改質熱可塑性ポリマーが含まれる。
熱膨張性材料は、加硫剤を任意に含んで良く、これは熱膨張性材料のポリマー成分と架橋する化学組成物である。当業者はこうした化学品を、硬化剤、硬膜剤、活性化剤、触媒、または促進剤とも呼称する。所定の加硫剤が触媒作用によって硬化を促進する一方で、他のものは固体エポキシ樹脂の反応に直接関与するのであり、開環反応、イオン重合、及び/または樹脂の架橋によって形成される熱硬化性ポリマーネットワーク中に導入される。多くの市販の、当業者に既知である加硫剤は、Encyclopedia of Polymer Science and Engineeringの上述の章に記載されている。幾つかの加硫剤は、上述の米国特許第6562884号に「硬化剤」と記載されている。
熱膨張性材料は、熱膨張性材料の硬化速度を速めるためかまたは硬化温度を低下させるために「促進剤」を任意に含んで良い。上述の通り、当業者は時にこの語を「硬化剤」及び「加硫剤」と互換性をもたせて使用する。促進剤には、入手可能なあらゆるエポキシ−無水物の反応促進剤が含まれる。適当な促進剤には、アミノ化合物、第一級−第二級−第三級アミン、アミン塩、金属塩、有機金属塩、及び金属酸化物が含まれる。
熱膨張性材料は、安定化システムを形成するための少なくとも一つの安定化剤を含む。好ましくは、安定化システムの少なくとも一部が望ましからぬ反応を防止するためにフリーラジカルを管理する。
熱膨張性材料は、界面活性化剤または湿潤剤としても既知の界面活性剤を任意に含んで良い。界面活性剤は、電気的特性によって分類することができる。非イオン性界面活性剤は荷電基を持たない。イオン性界面活性剤は正味荷電を担持する。荷電が負であれば界面活性剤は更に特定的にアニオン性と呼称され、荷電が正であれば界面活性剤は更に特定的にカチオン性と呼称される。界面活性剤が2つの逆の荷電基を有する頭部を含む場合は、これは双性イオン性と呼称される。
熱膨張性材料は、最終生成物にチキソトロピーをもたらすために「チキソトロピック剤」を任意に含んで良い。「チキソトロピー」とは撹拌に際して軟化し、静置されると元の状態に戻るという所定の物質の特性を意味する。チキソトロピック剤は、熱膨張の後の最終組成物の温度での沈下の防止及び低減を補助する。
熱膨張性材料は、着色剤、可塑剤、及び他の一般的成分等の、それぞれが市販され当業者に周知である他の添加剤を更に含んで良い。
熱膨張性材料において、粘着付与剤は製剤に添加されない。特に、熱膨張性材料は実質的に粘着付与剤を含まず、これは100%を熱膨張性材料として僅か2%、好ましくは約0%が製剤中に存在すること、最も好ましくは粘着付与剤が全く存在しないことを意味する。
Claims (20)
- (a)エポキシ樹脂;
(b)複数の熱可塑性ポリマー(ここで、少なくとも一つの熱可塑性ポリマーが前記エポキシ樹脂と反応しうる少なくとも一つの化学的部分を含む);及び
(c)加熱によって活性化される発泡剤;
を含む熱膨張性材料(この材料は実質的に粘着付与剤を含まない)であって、膨張の間に基体に粘着しうる熱膨張性材料。 - 前記エポキシ樹脂が、固体エポキシ樹脂である、請求項1の材料。
- 前記エポキシ樹脂が約0.5重量%から約20重量%を成す、請求項1の材料。
- 少なくとも一つの熱可塑性ポリマーが、無水物官能化熱可塑性コポリマーである、請求項1の材料。
- 少なくとも一つの熱可塑性ポリマーが、無水物官能化熱可塑性ターポリマーである、請求項1の材料。
- 前記エポキシ樹脂と反応しうる少なくとも一つの熱可塑性ポリマーが約5重量%から約50重量%を成す、請求項1の材料。
- 標準的温度及び圧力において実質的に液体成分を含まない、請求項1の材料。
- 実質的に可塑剤を含まない、請求項1の材料。
- 熱安定化システムを更に含む、請求項1の材料。
- 前記熱安定化システムが、ワックスを含む、請求項9の材料。
- 前記熱安定化システムが約0重量%から約20重量%を成す、請求項9の材料。
- (a)約2%から約8%の固体エポキシ樹脂;
(b)約15%から約20%の少なくとも一つの無水物改質熱可塑性ポリマー;
(c)約5%から約10%のワックス;及び
(d)約1%から約10%の加熱により活性化される発泡剤;
を含む熱膨張性バッフル材料であって、実質的に粘着付与剤を含まず、膨張の間に基体に粘着しうる、熱膨張性バッフル材料。 - 熱膨張性材料の未膨張の体積の約10%から約2500%熱膨張しうる、請求項12の材料。
- 熱膨張性材料の未膨張の体積の約500%から約2000%熱膨張しうる、請求項12の材料。
- 標準温度及び圧力において、実質的に液体成分を含まない、請求項12の材料。
- フタレート及び芳香族オイル及びこれらの混合物からなる群より選択される可塑剤を実質的に含まない、請求項12の材料。
- (a)エポキシ樹脂;
(b)少なくとも一つの活性化された熱可塑性ポリマー;
(c)加熱によって活性化される発泡剤;

- 前記基体が、低温圧延鋼材、亜鉛メッキ鋼、亜鉛メッキ電着被覆鋼及びこれらの組み合わせからなる群より選択される金属を含む、請求項17の材料。
- 前記基体がプラスチックを含む、請求項17の材料。
