Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a thermoplastic resin composition excellent in thermal stability, and also relates to a molding material excellent in light reflectivity obtained by molding the thermoplastic resin composition and a molded product thereof. In particular, the present invention relates to a polycarbonate resin composition, a reflector formed by molding the polycarbonate resin composition, and a molded product thereof.
Thermoplastic resins, especially polycarbonate resins, are excellent in mechanical strength, electrical characteristics, transparency, and the like, and thus are used in various fields such as electric / electronic equipment fields and automobile fields. Also, in the field of liquid crystal displays and the like, highly reflective materials of polycarbonate resin products and molded products thereof are frequently used as backlight application members. Accordingly, due to diversification of reflectors and reflection frames used for backlights, there is a demand for compatibility and high performance such as thermal stability under molding conditions during molding.
In order to provide the required high functionality, in particular, the light reflection function, titanium dioxide is generally blended with a polycarbonate resin which is a thermoplastic resin. In this case, improving the thermal stability of the resin composition is an important issue. For that purpose, it is most important to suppress a double reaction such as a hydrolysis reaction between the resin composition and the titanium dioxide particles. For this purpose, a method of previously coating titanium dioxide with reactive silicone is employed. In addition, increasing the amount of titanium dioxide to improve the light reflectance of the blended composition will further decrease the thermal stability during molding, lower the light reflectance and surface appearance of the molded body, There is a problem that it is very difficult to achieve both reflectivity and thermal stability during molding.
In order to solve these problems, it has been proposed to improve the thermal stability of the resin by the surface treatment of titanium dioxide or the addition of various additives in place of the surface treatment agent. Patent Document 1 discloses a thermoplastic resin composition comprising a rutile-type titanium oxide that is surface-treated with at least one compound selected from alumina hydrate and silicic acid hydrate. Describes a resin composition in which a silane coupling agent is blended with titanium oxide. However, such a technique is insufficient to prevent the deterioration of the polycarbonate resin.
In Patent Document 3, titanium dioxide was coated with a hydrated oxide composed of at least one of hydrous silica and hydrous alumina, and then coated with reactive polysiloxane, and the amount of base was adjusted. A resin composition containing a filler is described. Only the method of coating titanium dioxide with reactive silicone in advance has a limit in improving thermal stability. Thus, in the case of a composition obtained by adding titanium dioxide to a polycarbonate resin, although high light reflection characteristics can be obtained, there is a problem that the thermal stability of the resin composition is lowered.
On the other hand, as a measure for improving the stability of the resin composition, Patent Document 4 defines the water content such as crystal water or adsorbed water of the metal oxide contained in the system. Patent Document 5 describes titanium dioxide whose volatile water content is reduced to a specified level or less by post-heating treatment after surface treatment. However, such a technique is still insufficient to prevent deterioration of the resin composition n such as polycarbonate resin.
An object of the present invention is to solve these problems, a thermoplastic resin having high light reflectance and excellent thermal stability, in particular, a polycarbonate resin composition, and a molded body using the polycarbonate resin composition, And providing a light reflector using the same.
The present invention has been made in order to solve the above-described problems, and is a resin composition used in a light reflecting material and a molded article, which includes a substantially encapsulating layer containing a metal oxide deposited by thermal decomposition. A thermoplastic resin composition using titanium dioxide on the particle surface. In the titanium dioxide, the metal oxide forming the surface encapsulating layer is a metal oxide selected from silica, alumina, zirconia, or a mixture thereof, and has a water content of 300 ° C. and 100 by the Karl Fischer method. A thermoplastic resin composition characterized by using titanium dioxide having a difference in ΔC (ΔKF (300-100)) in the range of 300 to 800 ppm. The thermoplastic resin is a polycarbonate resin alone or a mixture of a polycarbonate resin and another thermoplastic resin, and relates to a molded article such as a polycarbonate resin composition, a molded body using the same, and a light reflector. .
Titanium dioxide in the present invention forms a product stream containing titanium dioxide by reacting titanium tetrachloride vapor, oxygen-containing gas and aluminum chloride in a plug flow reactor described in Patent Document 5 (WO1997 / 024289). And at least 97% of the titanium tetrachloride is converted to titanium dioxide downstream of the contact point between the titanium tetrachloride and oxygen, or the reaction temperature is about 1200 ° C. or less, preferably about 1100 ° C. or less. And a method of producing a durable titanium dioxide pigment by vapor-depositing a surface treatment agent on the surface of titanium dioxide by introducing silicon tetrachloride into the reactor at a certain point.
In addition, Patent Document 6 (Special Table 2003-0051635) mentions the use and use of the organic additive treatment, however, the dispersion and thermal stability, particularly the racing resistance, is mentioned there. However, there is no description regarding the stability of the polycarbonate resin composition mainly resulting from the hydrolysis of the polycarbonate resin composition resulting from the crystal water inherent in the inorganic surface-treated product, which is the basis of the present invention technology. Absent.
The resin composition of the present invention is thermally stable during molding by titanium dioxide according to Patent Document 5 (WO 1997/024289), in which the amount of water resulting from the crystal water in the inorganic surface treatment is sufficiently reduced. Is a resin composition in which a molded product having an excellent appearance can be obtained. Furthermore, the obtained molded article is a thermoplastic resin composition having high light reflectance, low light transmittance, excellent shielding properties, and sufficient performance for use as a reflector and its member.
The thermoplastic resin used in the thermoplastic resin composition includes polycarbonate resin, acrylic resin such as polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT), polybutylene terephthalate (PBT). A colorless transparent resin such as polyester resin such as styrene resin, polyether nitrile resin (PEN), and liquid crystal resin (LCP) can be used.
Moreover, these can be used individually by 1 type or in combination of 2 or more types. The thermoplastic resin used is implemented in polycarbonate resins, polyester resins, and liquid crystal resins having a carbonate bond or ester bond in the molecular skeleton, where hydrolysis reaction is a problem. The effect on is apparent. Among these resins, it is preferable to use a polycarbonate-based resin alone, or to use 50% by mass or more of the thermoplastic resin as a polycarbonate-based resin in order to maintain mechanical strength.
The present invention is a thermoplastic resin composition comprising titanium dioxide having a substantially encapsulating layer containing a metal oxide deposited by thermal decomposition on its surface. In the titanium dioxide, the metal oxide forming the surface encapsulating layer is a metal oxide selected from silica, alumina, zirconia, or any mixture thereof, and has a water content of 300 ° C. and 100 by the Karl Fischer method. This is to use titanium dioxide having a difference (ΔKF (300-100)) at 300 ° C. to 300 to 800 ppm.
Titanium dioxide may be surface-treated with an organic compound. Examples of the surface treatment agent used for the organic treatment include an organosilane compound or an organosiloxane compound having an alkoxy group, an epoxy group, an amino group, or a Si—H bond. Particularly preferred is hydrogen polysiloxane (a siloxane compound having a Si—H bond). Methyl hydrogen polysiloxane (D) can be surface-treated at a ratio of 0.025 / 10 to 1.0 / 10 in D / B with respect to the titanium dioxide particle (B) component.
There is no restriction | limiting in particular in the method of organic processing, It can carry out by a well-known method. For example, a method in which an organic siloxane compound and titanium dioxide are mixed and stirred by a mixing apparatus such as a super mixer, a Henschel mixer, or a V-type tumbler.
Titanium dioxide has a difference in moisture content measured by the Karl Fischer moisture measurement method at 300 ° C. and 100 ° C., that is, a value obtained by subtracting the moisture content detected at 100 ° C. from the moisture content detected at 300 ° C. ΔKF (300-100)) is characterized by using titanium dioxide particles having a range of 300 to 800 ppm. It is thought that it is the water | moisture content adhering to the titanium dioxide surface, and it is thought that it is the adhesion water and crystal water in titanium dioxide. It is considered that titanium oxide with less water adhering to the inside, water of crystallization, etc. has less hydrolysis of the polycarbonate resin due to thermal history.
When ΔKF (300-100) exceeds 1000 ppm, appearance defects such as silver streaks are likely to occur on the surface of the molded product, and the molecular weight of the resin is likely to decrease during molding. ΔKF (300-100) is preferably 800 ppm or less.
It consists of 2 to 60% by weight of the titanium dioxide (B) and 98 to 40% by weight of the thermoplastic resin (C) with respect to 100% by weight of the resin composition (A), and the amount of titanium dioxide is 2% by weight. If it is less than 50%, the light reflectance tends to be insufficient, and if it exceeds 60% by weight, impact resistance tends to be insufficient. The compounding amount of titanium dioxide is preferably 5 to 65 parts by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight of the aromatic polycarbonate resin. Additives such as impact modifiers, fluorescent brighteners, antioxidants, UV absorbers, stabilizers, pigments, dyes, lubricants, flame retardants, mold release agents, slidability improvers, etc. Further, reinforcing materials such as glass fibers and glass flakes, whiskers such as potassium titanate and aluminum borate, or thermoplastic resins other than aromatic polycarbonate resins can be blended.
In particular, when used for a light reflecting plate, it is preferable to add a fluorescent brightening agent or an ultraviolet absorber in order to improve the required light reflection characteristics and weather resistance.
Examples of thermoplastic resins other than aromatic polycarbonate resins include polyester resins such as polybutylene terephthalate, polytrimethylene terephthalate and polyethylene terephthalate, styrene resins such as polyamide resin, HIPS resin and ABS resin, and polyolefin resins such as polyethylene and polypropylene. And other thermoplastic resins.
The method for producing the thermoplastic resin composition is not particularly limited. For example, an aromatic carbonate resin, titanium dioxide, a flame retardant, and additives such as a fluorescent whitening agent to be blended as necessary are melt-blended together. A method of kneading an aromatic polycarbonate resin, titanium dioxide, and a flame retardant in advance, blending polytetrafluoroethylene, and a fluorescent whitening agent to be contained if necessary, and kneading the mixture. Examples of the method include mixing a flame retardant in advance, blending titanium dioxide, polytetrafluoroethylene, and a fluorescent whitening agent to be contained if necessary, and melt-kneading.
The manufacturing method of the light reflecting plate is not particularly limited, and the light reflecting plate is formed by a normal thermoplastic resin molding method (such as injection molding or extrusion molding).
The molded body of the present invention is obtained by molding the resin composition thus obtained into a flat plate or a curved plate using a normal molding method such as an injection molding method or a compression molding method. This molded body is preferably used, for example, for lighting devices and liquid crystal display backlights, and is particularly suitable as a reflector for liquid crystal display backlights.

Next, using a 350-ton injection molding machine (manufactured by Nissei Plastic Industry Co., Ltd., AZ7000), a 300 mm × 240 mm × 1 mm corrugated molded body was injection molded at a molding temperature of 310 ° C. and a mold temperature of 95 ° C. And a reflector was obtained.
In addition, using a 65 mmφ single screw extruder (manufactured by Hitachi Zosen Sangyo Co., Ltd., SHT65-32DVg) equipped with a T die lip (width 60 cm), the cylinder temperature 260 ° C., the die temperature 240 ° C., and the roll temperature 120-180 ° C. Thus, an extruded sheet having a thickness of 1 mm was obtained. Further, this sheet was hot press molded at a press temperature of 190 ° C. to obtain a corrugated sheet of 300 mm × 240 mm × 1 mm.
When a light source was arranged on these obtained corrugated shaped bodies, it was confirmed to function as a reflector.
And the resin composition was tested and evaluated by the following method.
Light reflectance: A square plate having a molded product thickness of 3 mm was molded as a test piece, and light reflectance at a wavelength of 500 nm was measured using “COLOR 7-X” manufactured by Kurashiki Boseki Co., Ltd.
Appearance: Using a test piece similar to the light reflectance, visually observe the appearance of the molded product, and “Good” indicates that there is no silver streak, etc., and silver streak of 1 mm or less occurs slightly. Was evaluated as “○”, which was not a problem at all in actual use, and a silver streak of 1 mm or more was generated and the appearance was severely deteriorated [×].
As is clear from Table 2, when the titanium dioxide having a low water content is used among the inorganic titanium treated by the vapor deposition action of the present application, both the light reflectance and the silver streak are improved. Moreover, when the thing with much moisture content in titanium dioxide is used, the fall of a light reflectivity and the increase in a silver streak will be remarkable.
