Abstract
【解決手段】 液晶パネルに光を照射するバックライトを有する液晶表示装置において、バックライトに設けられた導光板に、発光素子としてLEDを設け、導光板の出光面に涙形のレンズを形成する。涙形のレンズにより発光素子から出射した光の進行方向を変化させることで、導光板からの出射光を散乱させて面状光源としてのムラを減少させる。

Claims (12)
- 液晶パネルと、該液晶パネルに光を照射するバックライトと、
バックライトに設けられた発光素子と導光板とを有し、
導光板の出光面には涙形のレンズを形成したことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 上記涙形のレンズは導光板に入射した光の進行方向の分布を補正する形状であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 上記涙形のレンズの断面が楕円形であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 上記涙形のレンズの形状が非対称であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 液晶パネルと、該液晶パネルに光を照射するバックライトと、
バックライトに設けられた導光板と、
導光板の側面に沿って配置された複数の発光ダイオードとを有し、
導光板の出光面には半径が上記側面から離れるに方向に長い涙形のレンズを形成したことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 上記涙形のレンズの上記側面に沿う方向の半径は、上記側面から離れるに従って変化することを特徴とする請求項5に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 上記涙形のレンズは導光板に入射した光の進行方向の分布を補正する形状であることを特徴とする請求項5に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 上記涙形のレンズの断面が楕円形であることを特徴とする請求項5に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 上記涙形のレンズの形状が非対称であることを特徴とする請求項5に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 液晶パネルと、該液晶パネルに光を照射する面状照明装置とを有する液晶表示装置において、
面状照明装置には出光面と該出光面に対向する底面とを有する導光板を設け、
導光板には出光面または底面と交差する側面を設け、
導光板の第1の側面に沿って複数のLEDを設け、
第1の側面からLEDの光を入射させて、第1の側面を導光板の入射面とし、
導光板に入射した光は導光板底面に設けられた散乱部材によって出光面側に向けられ出光面から出射し、
導光板の出光面には涙型のレンズを設け、涙形のレンズにより出射光を拡散させることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 上記導光板に入射した光の進行方向の分布は涙形の形状をしており、上記涙形のレンズは光の進行方向の分布を補正する形状であることを特徴とする請求項10に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 上記涙形のレンズの形状が非対称であることを特徴とする請求項10に記載の液晶表示装置。
