Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a detection device for detecting filming of toner and external additives produced on an image carrier (photosensitive member, intermediate transfer member, etc.) of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus, a cleaning device provided with this detection device, and a process cartridge. -Relating to a bridge and an image forming apparatus.
In an electrophotographic image forming apparatus, so-called filming in which a toner component adheres to an image carrier such as a photosensitive member or an intermediate transfer member lowers the quality of the image forming device over time and shortens the life of the image carrier. This is a big problem, and various methods have been proposed to solve this problem. However, when presenting means for removing the filming substance, a method for accurately detecting the presence or absence of filming on the image carrier in order to minimize the operation time of the removal means and suppress damage to the image carrier. This is the first problem to be solved.
The method for detecting filming on the photoconductor is classified into a method for detecting a change in the amount of reflected light on the surface of the photoconductor and a method for monitoring a contact state of a cleaning blade which is a member in contact with the photoconductor. Furthermore, a method for detecting the amount of deflection of the cleaning blade, a method for detecting the amount of displacement of the support shaft of the cleaning blade, and the like have been proposed.

In Patent Document 3, a strain gauge for detecting the distortion of the cleaning blade is attached to the central portion of each cleaning blade, and one end thereof is connected to an amplifier. The voltage value output from the strain gauge and amplified to a predetermined level by the amplifier is detected as a value representing the magnitude of blade distortion that deforms according to the frictional force of the cleaning blade against the photosensitive drum, and this value is compared. An image forming apparatus configured to determine the presence or absence of a filming layer is disclosed.
In
However, in the image forming apparatus disclosed above, the change in the deflection amount of the cleaning blade and the displacement amount of the support shaft of the cleaning blade due to the presence or absence of filming on the photosensitive member is small, and it cannot be said that the detection sensitivity is sufficient. There is a problem.
Also, filming does not always occur uniformly on the surface of the photoconductor. In particular, the amount of deflection of the cleaning blade is detected in order to give uniform sensitivity to the entire area where the cleaning blade contacts, such as a strain gauge. There is a problem that it is necessary to arrange a large number of sensors.
Also, when detecting the amount of reflected light, there is a problem that the sensitivity varies greatly depending on the wavelength in the case of a color image forming apparatus, and the structure becomes complicated to observe the entire surface of the photoreceptor.

According to the present invention, by the means for solving the above, in the present invention, the multi-dimensional data of the vibration frequency is observed by replacing it with one scale without greatly degrading the amount of information, so that the vibration corresponding to the friction state of the cleaning blade can be obtained. It is possible to provide a detection means capable of accurately grasping the change of the image and detecting abnormality such as filming or cleaning failure. In addition, since it is small and light and has a stable sensitivity over a wide range, a detection means that can eliminate the need to optimize the configuration for each model is provided. Also provided is a detection means capable of extremely reducing the disturbance of the system. Further, since the vibration generated by the movable member such as a gear is suppressed from being transmitted to the blade support member, the signal component from the blade tip occupying the vibration waveform is relatively increased, and the detection power of the state change can be improved. A detection means is provided.
In addition, since it is possible to take preventive measures by controlling the operation of the filming removal means by setting the condition before the failure becomes apparent with the index value, the period until the failure becomes apparent is extended. Thus, it is possible to provide a cleaning device, a process cartridge, and an image forming apparatus that can extend the life of an image carrier.

FIG. 5 shows the result of frequency analysis (FFT analysis) of the output waveform of the piezoelectric element after the filmed photoconductors (Cyan and Magenta) have been replaced. Compared with FIG. 4, it can be seen that there is a significant change particularly in the frequency band of 500 Hz or higher. This band has a small correlation with filming, and shows that the resonance of the
FIG. 6 is a diagram showing, in a time series, frequency analysis results of the output waveform when developed with cyan toner. As shown in FIG. 6, the whole is divided into several frequency bands, and the correspondence relationship between the time-series changes of the respective acceleration amplitudes and the occurrence of filming is shown. It can be seen that the frequency band does not necessarily indicate a similar change. Although the amplitude change appears greatly in the high frequency region, the correlation with filming is small as described above.
FIG. 7 is a diagram illustrating the correspondence between the time-series change and filming using the Mahalanobis distance as an example of the index value. The result of calculating the acceleration amplitude in the low frequency band for all colors and calculating the Mahalanobis distance (strictly, the square distance) based on the normal state where filming has not occurred from the obtained multidimensional data. (Referred to as MT method) was compared with the filming that occurred. In the normal state where filming does not occur, the Mahalanobis distance is approximately 1 to 3 in the MT method. Corresponding to the occurrence of filming, the Mahalanobis distance increases, and from this, the occurrence of filming can be detected and further predicted by observing the Mahalanobis distance. The Mahalanobis distance is one of pattern recognition evaluation methods, but the index value to be calculated is not limited to this.

If the Mahalanobis distance increases due to the operation of these removing means, it can be dealt with before the failure becomes apparent if it is determined as a life and replaced, and the downtime can be minimized.

FIG. 21 is a schematic view showing a configuration of a cleaning blade to which a material having a high thermal conductivity is attached. As shown in FIG. 21, the apparent thermal conductivity of the
As a result, the cleaning blade surface temperature T2 in FIG. 20 can be brought close to the contact part temperature T1, and there is also an effect of suppressing the temperature rise of the contact part. If heat dissipating means such as a heat sink is provided in the heat spreader, a heat dissipating effect can be obtained and a change in viscoelasticity can be suppressed.
This makes it possible to increase the apparent thermal conductivity of the cleaning blade by disposing a heat spreader. Therefore, even if the temperature is observed at a position away from the cleaning blade contact portion, the deviation and time response delay are small and accurate. High observation information can be obtained. Furthermore, a heat dissipation effect can be obtained by providing heat dissipation means in the heat spreader, and the viscoelastic change of the cleaning blade itself can be suppressed.
