Abstract

993,544. Switches held set and freed mechanically. C.M.G. DU T. DE ROUGEMONT, and M. M. STAPFER. June 12, 1963 [June 16, 1962], No. 23315/63. Heading H2B. A push-button switch actuated alternately to opposite positions by successive depressions of the button 10 comprises a heart-shaped cam track 12 recessed in the sliding member 2 and co-operating with a follower 22 on the fixed frame 4. Movable contacts on member 2 co-operate with fixed contacts connected to tags 6. The follower 22 is a cylindrical pin located in a transverse slot 28 so as to oscillate freely in a plane perpendicular to the direction of sliding of member 2. A leaf spring 24 retains pin 22 and urges its lower end against the base of track 12 which is stepped at 18, 18<SP>11</SP> and 181 to ensure movement of the pin around the track 12 in the direction of the arrow 20 (Fig. 2). When the member 2 is fully retracted by spring 8 the end of pin 22 is located at point 14 of the track 12. When the button 10 is depressed the pin moves relative to track 12 and drops over step 18<SP>11</SP>; on release of button 10 the member 2 is prevented from retracting by the pin taking up the position indicated at 34 in the notch of the central projection 36. The succeeding depression of button 10 moves pin 22 against step 18<SP>1</SP> to position 38, and on release of the button member 2 retracts as the pin 22 reverts to point 14.
