Abstract
988,430. Sliding windows. H. SCHURMANN, [trading as HEINZ SCHURMANN & CO.]. Feb. 11, 1963 [Nov. 17, 1962], No. 5495/63. Heading E1J. Double- or single-glazed sashes run on rollers 25 on metal rails 17 which are supported away from the frame on peripherally extending Y-sectioned flanges 11 which also serve to support vertically-extending stop rails 18 (Fig. 3) and horizontally extending guides 19 (Fig. 2), which may both be formed of a hard synthetic plastics material. Between the rails 17, 18 and the guides 19 and the flanges 11 are arranged I-sectioned seal strips 14, with a short flange 15 arranged in the channel, and the longer flange 20 extending across under the rail &c. Each seal strip is keyed to its rail 11 by a boss 16, and has extra flanges 23 engaging grooves 24 in the rail 11. Drainage slots 27, 29 are provided in the rails 11 and frame 8 respectively (Fig. 2). The frame 8 is provided with stop strips 31 (Fig. 2) and cover strips 34 (Fig. 3).
