Abstract

982,026. Guides for sash windows. ALLWEATHER ALUMINIUM WINDOWS (AUST.) PROPRIETARY Ltd. May 24, 1961, No. 18831/61. Heading E1J. The guide member 2 inserted in a metal window frame of channel section 13 for a metal sliding sash is composed of semi-rigid material such as polyethylene and has a spacer strip 1 of foam plastic, sponge rubber &c adhered to the inner face of the guide, the outer face having flanges 4, 5 forming top-sash and bottom-sash runs. The extremities of the guides 2 may have complementary connecting parts to form a continuous stretch the end portion of one stretch being devoid of some flanges e.g. 4, 5 and has a row of apertures 7, Figs. 8 and 9 to receive complementary plugs 8, Fig. 8 projecting from the face of an adjoining stretch which is devoid of the remaining flanges viz. the flanges of the channel section 3, see Fig. 8. The inserts 2 are somewhat shorter than guides 13 and have top and bottom inserts shaped to fit the contour of the tread rail and sill members.
