Abstract

979,537. Driving means for ships' gantry cranes. S. MUNCK. July 29, 1963 [Sept. 5, 1962; Nov. 10, 1962], No. 29916/63. Heading B8B. A ship's gantry crane is driven along rails 3, Fig. 1, by a pinion 8, which engages teeth 7 on a bar supported by a bracket 6, and is guided by rollers 10 which engage the sides of the rail. The crane may be locked to the track by a bolt 23, Fig. 2, which is inserted through flanges 11, 14 and a distance-piece 17 which fits in conical seats 12, 13. The crane is raised to permit insertion of the distance pieces by jacks 20, 21, 22 which bear on and are located by conical projections 19 on supports 18.
