Abstract

1310789 Continuous casting SCHLOEMANN AG 1 Nov 1971 [2 Nov 1970] 50741/71 Addition to 1130449 Heading B3F Multistrand continuous casting apparatus includes several arcuate strand-guideways comprising removable sections, and alongside each guideway a coaxial arcuate track 7 with a single carriage 8 transferable to any one of the tracks, e.g. by crane, to run along the track and support a section of the associated guideway during removal or replacement. The carriage 8 has sidesupporting and load-supporting area 10 and 11. Hooks 30 at the front of the carriage engage a free axle 29 guided in the particular track 7 when the carriage is placed in position on the latter. Cables 14 passing over a pair of pulleys 13 on each axle 29 move the carriage 8 along the track. The bottom end of a track 7 is shown, and here upper flanges of channelled rails of the track are removed and there are stops 31 coacting with buffers on the carriage 8. A drawbar 24 is guided on rollers 25 on the carriage for dragging-on the segment to be transported. A head 27 for coupling to the segment is displaceable along the drawbar which has notches engageable by a catch 28 in the head.
