Abstract
975,514. Hose end fittings. B.T.R. INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 17, 1962 [April 17, 1961], No. 13812/61. Heading F2G. A re-usable end fitting for a reinforced flexible hose comprises an interscrewed insert i and ferrule a, the insert being formed behind its leading end with a diametral enlargement f of stepped form. The ferrule is provided beyond its hose receiving end with a recess a<SP>1</SP> into which the reinforcement m and inner layer k of the hose, the outer layer I having been removed, are bent by the enlargement such that the hose is gripped between the surface of the recess and the surface of the enlargement. In the construction shown the insert i is provided at its outer end with coupling members b<SP>1</SP>, c. The side edge of the recess which grips the hose is approximately radially in line with the first step of the stepped enlargement. The inner surface of the ferrule is provided with a helical hose-gripping thread having a groove k.
