Abstract

969,827. Two-part couplings. CANNON ELECTRIC CO. Oct. 25, 1962 [Oct. 31, 1961], No. 40470/62. Heading H2E. [Also in Division B5] The resilient insulating body 10 of a connector has contact-receiving bores 16, each of which is provided with an annular cavity 64 adjacent to a projecting flash of material 60 resulting from the body moulding process, so that when a contact 70 is inserted into bore 16, it deflects the flash 60 out of its path into the cavity 64. The pin contact 70 is axially retained in the bore 16 by the engagement of a collar 76 and an enlarged portion 74 on its stem with rearwardly and forwardly facing shoulders 18, 22 and 20 in the bore 16. Connecting wires may be crimped, soldered or welded to the ends of connector contacts before insertion into body 10.
