In an induction sensing arrangement responsive to the change of coupling between coils, an amplifier connected to the pick-up coil produces maximum output when the induced electrical energy is decreased. In an indicating meter an aluminium vane 45 carried by pointer 27 is arranged to change the coupling between coils L1, L3, L2, L4 when it passes between them. The coils are mounted on arms 61, the angles of which may preset by external levers 47, 49 and the ends of the arm are bent over at 63 to read against an end scale. Zero adjustment is provided on the meter, and the indicator is counter balanced. Coils L1, L2 Fig. 3 are connected in the tank circuit of a transistor Colpitts oscillator TR1, and the signals received in coils L3, L4 in the absence of the vane, when rectified, cut off transistors TR2, TR3 by setting up a positive potential on the bases thereof in opposition to the negative battery. An output signal is thus generated when the meter reads a desired upper or lower value.
