Abstract

964,399. Reservoir applicators; carpet cleaning apparatus. BROSSE ET J. DUPONT REUNIS. May 14, 1963 [July 3, 1962; Jan. 22, 1963], No.19129/63. Headings A4F and A4K. In a carpet cleaning device, slider 39 is urged by compression spring 43 to pinch flexible tube 34 and prevent detergent from flowing from annular tank 8 to perforated feed pipe 31, until sufficient lateral thrust is applied to handle 49 to move the device forwardly. Flexible blades 27 in W-formation work the detergent into the carpet. Sponge rubber rollers 19 and 23 and brush bristles 12 and 16 are provided. In a modification (Figs. 6-9, not shown) pipe 31 is replaced by a distributor plate extending between the rollers 19 and 23 and sloping downwardly at either end. The plate carries staggered flexible blades on its underside and liquid guide ribs on its upperside. U.S.A. Specification 1,894,420 is referred to.
