Abstract

960,145. Delivering sheets. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. Feb. 5, 1963 [Feb. 5, 1962], No. 4592/63. Heading B6H. Record cards which are transported from a machine to a delivery stack are decelerated so that they overlap, and the overlapping operation is facilitated by causing the trailing edge of a preceding card to be depressed by two devices which engage the sides of the cards to allow the leading edge of a following card to over-ride it. As shown, the cards are fed by sets of rollers 3, 4, the latter having a peripheral speed of onethird of that of the former and being urged together resiliently, and the side edges of the cards 1, 2 engage in grooves 11 in rollers 10 which rotate in the direction of the arrows 13. Each incoming card 1 passes into different slots 11 from the preceding card, and is moved downward and forward towards the decelerating rollers 4 : thus the card 1 enters the slots 11 at a higher level than the trailing edge of the card 2 which is gripped by the rollers 4. In a modification (Fig. 1, not shown), the trailing edge of the first card is depressed by counterrotating vaned wheels which rotate about vertical axes inclined to the plane of travel of the cards, so that the vanes &c. engage over the side edges of the card. The vaned wheels could be replaced by helical gears or wormwheels. Instead of using decelerating rollers 4, the preceding cards can be braked by spring- pressed guides.
