Abstract
959,081. Brakes; clutch control; linkwork. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. Oct. 7, 1960 [Oct. 5, 1959], No. 33619/59. Headings F2E, F2K and F2L. A device for transmitting movement with an increasing mechanical advantage from an input member 10, connected to a manually or pedaloperated control member, to an output member 11, connected to a brake or clutch, comprises a fixed arm 31 to which is pivotally attached an arm 30, a spring 29 urging the arms apart, and links 39 and 35 attached to the input and output members respectively, movement of input member 10 from the position shown in Fig. 2 to that in Fig. 3 causing a roller 38 on the link 39 to run along the link 35, the spring 29 meanwhile expanding to increase the output force on member 11. A return spring on the output member returns the device to its original condition. A tie-rod 41 on the link 39 contacts abutments 43 and 44 to limit movement of the device.
