Abstract

957,095. Ironing machines. POLYMARK Ltd. April 18, 1962 [April 26, 1961;Dec. 4, 1961], Nos. 15072/61 and 43249/61. Heading D1A. Flat work is spread laterally to facilitate feeding to a following work stage, by divergently positioned endless feeder members, at least one of which has a rough or indented surface to grip the work, the outermost feeder members moving in planes inclined to the vertical. In Fig. 1 (a plan view),three endless tensioned belts 12,13,14 run in casings 121,131,141. The casings 121,141 of the side belts 12, 14 are supported at one end by universal joints 28, and at the other by stays 15 which are notched to engage with lugs 17 (Fig. 4, not shown) and can be adjusted to vary the divergence. The centre belt 13 is elevated with respect to the side belts 12,14, and may have a freely rotatable roller 35 resting on it. The casings 121, 131, 141 may have projecting flanges to support the upper runs of the belts 12,13,14 which may be link belts (as shown), cables, ropes, V-belts or be flat with small projections (Fig. 6, not shown). A retractable receiving tray 10 and a multispeed drive are provided.
