Abstract
955,184. Knitting-machines; turning inside out. SCHUBERT & SALZER MASCHINENFABRIK A.G. Nov. 29,1961 [March 15, 1961], No. 42633/61. Headings D1C and D1X. A pneumatic fabric take-up arrangement for a circular machine comprises sucking or blowing the fabric upwardly through a tube 1 positioned above the needle cylinder. This ensures that the fabric tube or stocking is turned inside out whereby subsequently loose ends of yarn can be trimmed. In the case of the fabric being withdrawn by sucking, the upper end of the needle cylinder is closed by a guiding cone 2. The tube 1 constitutes the drive to the transfer dial 9 and its lower end is shaped as at 12 to provide a space 2<SP>1</SP> between itself and the cone 2 through which the fabric is drawn away from the needles prior to being turned inside out as it is drawn up into the tube ,1. Alternatively the upper end of the cylinder may have a nozzle 21, Fig. 2, through which air is blown to draw the fabric from the needles and blow it up into the tube 1. To enable the transfer dial to be pivotably raised a slidable connecting tube 15 is provided which normally connects the upper end of tube 1 with a tube 16 communicating with a blower and a receptacle for receiving the completed stocking. When the tube 15 is raised as shown in Fig. 3a, the transfer dial can pivot upwardly to an inoperative position. The conduit 16 can be common to a number of machines connecting them to a receptacle for receiving the completed stockings, and a single blower may supply a flow of air to a number of machines. Italian Specifications 556,014, 558,876 and French Specification 1,222,893 are referred to.
