Abstract

This invention relates to a pneumatic take down of knitted fabrics on a circular knitting machine for the production of hosiery goods, which comprises a blower connected to the knitted fabric guideway (2) being in turn connected to the needle cylinder and terminating in a closing flap (3). The object of the invention is to replace the collecting receptacle in the take down to which end into the guideway (2) from the needle cylinder is connected via tube (4) first the exhaust side of the blower and after it via tube (7) the suction side of the blower. The connections to the blower are controlled by valves (6,9) or by flaps in the tubes (4,7) so that during knitting tube (7) applies suction but tube (4) does not blow. After the fabric has been pressed off tube (7) ceases to suck and tube (4) is caused to blow to deliver the fabric through the flap (3). <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Pneumatic take down of knitted fabrics This invention relates to a pneumatic take down of knitted fabrics on a circular knitting machine for the production of hosiery goods.
There are known hosiery knitting machines with pneumatic take down of knitted fabrics which are provided with a collecting recepta cle onto which the suction side of a blower is connected. From said collecting receptacle the knitted fabric is freely or positively transported into a collecting bag. The collecting receptacle is relatively complicated as to its production and relatively expensive and not too tight, so that there are air losses and an efficient blower is necessary.
The object of this invention is to eliminate the above mentioned disadvantage.
According to the invention there is provided pneumatic take down of knitted fabrics on a circular knitting machine for the production of hosiery goods, comprising a blower connected to the knitted fabric guideway which is in turn connected to the needle cylinder, said guideway terminating in a closing flap, to the guideway from the needle cylinder their being first connected the exhaust side of the blower and after it the suction side of the blower.
Embodiments of the invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is schematic layout of a pneumatic take down with the illustration of the air flow during knitting; Figure la shows the positions of the distributors connected to the pneumatic take down during knitting; Figure 2 shows the same as Fig. 1, but when ejecting the completed fabric; Figure 2a shows the positions of the distributors when ejecting the fabric; Figure 3 illustrates a variant of the pneumatic take down according to Fig. 1 with inserted flaps in the positions when knitting; and Figure 4 shows the same as Fig. 3, but with the flaps in the positions for ejecting the knitted fabric.
A known single cylinder knitting machine for the production of hosiery and the like goods is provided with a pneumatic take down of knitted fabric which is connected to the needle cylinder of the machine. The rotary take down basket 1 is connected directly to the not shown needle cylinder. The tube 2 is connected to the rotary take down basket 1, the tube is twice bent and its horizontal part terminates in a closing flap 3 which here freely adjoins. Another tube 4 is connected to the vertical part of the tube 2 behind the bend, the other end of tube 4 is connected to the opening 5 (Fig. 1 a) of the air distributor 6. On the lower part of the horizontal part of tube 2 before the closing flap 3 there is connected another tube 7, the other end of which is connected to the opening 8 of the air distributor 9.A horizontal grid 10 preventing passage of the knitted fabric from the tube 2 into the tube 7 is arranged in the place of connection of tubes 2 and 7.
The intake 61 of the air distributor 6 is connected to the exhaust side of the not shown blower, while its openings 62,62' communicate with the atmosphere. The intake 91 of the air distributor 9 is connected to the suction side of the not shown blower, while its further opening 92 communicates with the atmosphere.
The operation of the above description device is the following. When knitting the fabric, the slide valve of the distributor 9 is in the position closing the opening 5, as shown in Fig. 1 a, and the slide valve of the distributor 9 is in the position closing no opening. Consequently there is no air stream in the tube 4 and the air streams through the tube 2, through the grid 10, through the tube 7 and through the opening 8 into the distributor 9 and it is sucked into the blower in the direction of arrows shown in Figs. 1 and 1 a. The air from the exhaust side of the blower streams also into the distributor 6, but out through its openings 62, 62'.After completion of the knitted fabric, the latter is cast off the needles and is caught on the grid 10, while due to partial closing of the grid 10, the flow of the aie through the opening 92 increases, so that the blower stress is not increased. In the next moment the slide valves of both distributors 6 and 9 turn into the positions where the openings 62, 62' or the opening 8 are closed and the opening 5 is opened as shown in Fig. 2a. Due to the positions of the slide valves of the distributors 6, 9 the air is no longer sucked through the tube 7, i.e. the fabric P (Fig. 2) is no longer sucked onto the grid 10 and the air exhausted from the blower streams through the tube 4 into the tube 2, while it opens the flap 3 which was sucked onto the exit opening of the tube 2 and ejects the knitted fabric P out from the machine take down into the collecting bag.
Another modification of the device is without the use of the distributors 6 and 9, while in the tube 4 there are two flaps A and B (Fig.
3) and in the tube 7 there are flaps C and D.
The exhaust opening 1 2 of the blower is disposed directly on the tube 4 and the suction opening 1 3 of the blower is disposed directly on the tube 7, where there is also connected a container 11 to collect the cuttings. Flaps A-D are controlled from the not shown control device of the machine.
The operation of the device is the following.
Flaps A-C are opened and flaps B and D are closed when knitting, therefore the exhaust pressure air flows from the tube 4 into the atmosphere and the suction pressure air flows through the tube 2 into the tube 7 and into the blower, as shown by the arrows. When the knitted fabric is completed and caught onto the grid 1 0, flaps A-D change their positions and the blower sucks the air through opened flap D from the atmosphere and the exhaust air flows through the tube 4 into the tube 2 and ejects the knitted fabric P through the flap 3 into the collecting bag.
The advantage of the device according to the invention is that no collecting receptacle is necessary and the pressure air losses are reduced, which enables the use of a less efficient blower.
