Abstract

943,962. Window frames. PERSPEKTIVA A.S. Jan. 22, 1960 [Jan. 31, 1959], No. 2490/60. Heading E1J. A window, sash or door frame is constructed from wooden members 1 with metal cover plates 5 which may be clipped or slid into position. The lintel of Fig. 1 has a metal cover 5 with a convex facing portion, a U-shaped clip-in portion 7, and an eaves flange 10; whilst the wooden member 1 has a top recess with a vertical bearing face 3, and a groove 9 in its bottom face. In another similar embodiment the flange 4 lies over the back of the member 1. Fig. 5 shows a bottom sash member 17 with a metal cover 21 having top (doubled) and bottom flanges fitting into grooves in member 17. Another similar embodiment has a single top flange, and a doubled bottom flange. In these embodiments, the bottom sash member 17 runs through to the sides of the sash, with the metal covers 22 for the side sash members overlapping the cover 21, and the cover to the top sash member overlapping the tops of the covers for the side sash members. In the embodiments of Figs. 5, 6, provision is made for water to drain away fromthe groove in the top of the bottom sash member, by the integral U-section flange in Fig. 5, and by a separate U-section channel in Fig. 6, which shows a doubled glazed window.
