Abstract

943,234. Junction boxes. DAVIS & TIMMINS Ltd. Sept. 29, 1961 [Oct. 11, 1960], No. 34818/60. Heading H2E. In a junction box comprising a base 1 and a cover 2, terminals 9 are clamped to the base by an insulating plate 5 which sandwiches parts of the terminals between itself and the base when screwed to the latter. As shown, the terminals are cylindrical and have axial screwthreaded bores 11 and diametrical slots forming pairs of arms 10 which pass through pairs of holes 7 in the plate 5 so that the parts of the plate between the holes 7 lie at the bottom of the slots in the terminals and hold the underlying parts against the base when the plate is secured thereto by the mounting screws for the junction box which pass through holes 14 in the plate and coincident holes in the base. There are strengthening bosses 13 around the holes in the base. Until these screws are placed in position the terminals and the plate 5 are retained together by wire-clamping screws 12 in the bores 11.
