942,155. Rotary vane pumps and motors. D. H. COCKBURN March 28, 1962 [March 28, 1961], No. 11342/61. Heading F1F. A rotary pump or motor comprises a rotor 6 eccentrically mounted within a cylindrical casing 1 and substantially T-shaped vanes 11 (Fig. 3) sliding in grooves 8 in the rotor. Each flange 15, 16 of the vane is forked, the forks of one vane engaging those of the next (Fig. 4). The inlet and outlet 9 communicate with the working space through the gap between the forks 16. The flanges are bevelled at 21, between the forks, so that the forks are more uniformly stressed. The vanes may be made as drop forgings, or, alternatively may be formed from two L-shaped sheet metal portions. Specification 735,611 is referred to.
