Abstract

931,767. Hearing aids. FORTIPHONE Ltd. July 25, 1960 [Sept. 14, 1959], No. 31305/59. Class 40 (4). A hearing aid unit, Fig. 1, including a microphone 13 and amplifier (not shown) is provided with at least two adapters to be plugged alternatively into sockets 23, one of the adapters 27, Fig. 4, having a plug 24 and forming with the unit a U-shaped structure suitable for supporting behind the ear, and the other adapter 30, Fig. 5, having a recess 31 for receiving the end of a side frame 32 of a pair of spectacles whereby the unit again may be supported behind the ear. The side frame 32 of the spectacles is cut short and shaped if necessary. Each adapter carries flexible electrical conductors 29 serving to connect the unit with an earphone (not shown). A third adapter 33, Fig. 6, has a recess 34 carrying the spring portion of a hair slide or a clothing clip. One earphone serves for all adapters if the earphone can be coupled to the flexible leads of all adapters by plug and socket connectors. The amplifier is preferably of the transistor type, batteries being accommodated within a nest 16, Fig. 3. A spring contact 17 engages one battery terminal, contact with the other terminal being made by a switch 18 operated by a lever 19. A volume control 20 is provided.
