Abstract

615,104. Sets for deaf persons. STEVENS, A. H. (Paraphone Hearing Aid, Inc.). Sept. 7, 1945, No. 23087. [Class 40 (iv)] A hearing aid apparatus comprises a casing in which a removable chassis carries the microphone in a spring mounting, a socket for external connection which protrudes through an aperture in the rear of the casing and contacts for engagement with terminals of batteries contained in the lower part of the casing. The casing is completely enclosed except for the lower half of the rear panel which is removable for insertion of the chassis and batteries. The chassis comprises a panel of insulating material carrying the various components and supports the microphone 12, Fig. 6, in a spring wire frame 39, thereby holding it against a grille 260. The rear of the panel carries a coupling 19 which projects through an aperture in the rear wall for engagement with a sliding connector 20 wired to the earphone. The chassis is inserted after removing the panel 290, the spring 39 being pressed down to permit its insertion until the coupling 19 is located in its aperture. The batteries are housed in the lower half of the casing and each is located between one terminal contact on the lower edge of the chassis panel and a second contact on the casing. One terminal in each pair comprises a spring-located pivoted arm which holds the battery against the other terminal.
