Abstract

928,882. Bobbin orientation devices employing endless conveyers. DEERING MILLIKEN RESEARCH CORPORATION. Oct. 7, 1959 [Oct. 13, 1958], No. 34023/59. Class 78 (1). A bobbin orientation device comprises a sequence of orientating elements as follows: 1. The tapered bobbins B fed in mass into a hopper 11 are delivered therefrom at 13 on to endless belt 15, the side frames 15a of which converge so as to position the bobbins in single file as shown. 2. Belt 15 feeds the bobbins slightly upwards on to endless belt 17, a guard 18 being provided so that any pair of bobbins jammed as at 18s are thrown upwards by belt 15 and, in striking guard 18, tip and fall over the side of belt 17. 3. The bobbins from belt 17 fall singly into the pockets 19a of endless belt 19. As the bobbins are conveyed upwards they encounter cam plate 21 which pushes over any vertical bobbins Bt so that they fall into a pocket. Next they encounter hold-down plate 23 pivoted at 23a which positions the bobbins relative to air nozzle 27. Any bobbins which are being conveyed with their thick ends on the right side of belt 19 will be engaged by the jet from nozzle 27 and will be hurled on to shoot 31 so that they slide theredown and fall back on to belt 15. The trajectory is made such that when fed forward again to belt 19 they will have the thick ends on the left side of belt 19. The latter belt thus discharges the bobbins orientated uniformly.
