715,413. Opening and feeding fibrous material. T.M.M. (RESEARCH), Ltd. June 15, 1953 [May 16, 1952], No. 12506/52: Addition to 670,827. Class 120(1) The hopper feeder apparatus of the parent Specification is modified in that the fibrous material is presented to spiked lattice H by a feed roller J co-operating with a non-rotary element in the form of a plate K and yieldably urged towards roller J. Plate K is shaped concavely so that the nose K' of the plate grips the material against roller J at a point closely adjacent the path of the lattice spikes, whilst the material is still under the combing influence of the spikes. Plate K is formed of a number of collateral independently pivoted pedal-like sections each loaded by a spring M.
