Abstract

925,047. Electromagnetic relays. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Nov. 3, 1961 [Nov. 7, 1960], No. 39458/61. Class 38 (5). A relay comprises a U-shaped magnetic frame 27, 28, 29 carrying an energizing winding 26, an insulating support member 1 mounted between the legs of the U, and a sealed contact unit 4 mounted wholly within an aperture 3 in said support member. The sealed contact unit has terminals 18, 19 which are embraced by and secured to curved polepieces 15, 16 and is retained in the support member by a hardsetting resin which fills the support member. A plurality of support members carrying sealed contact units may be mounted side by side, Fig. 7 the members being secured together either by tie bolts passing through aligned holes 12, 12<SP>1</SP> in the members, or by strips passing through aligned slots 5, 5<SP>1</SP> and retained by clamps. The legs 28, 29 of the U-shaped magnetic frame have a plurality of slots at their ends which co-operate with projections 11, 11<SP>1</SP> on the support members. A terminal block 20, similar in shape to the support members is provided for the energizing winding. In Fig. 8 (not shown), the support members are mounted on either side of the energizing winding. Two or more energizing windings may be used.
