A high-tension electric cable of the fluidpressure type, with insulation formed by a wrapping of impregnated paper, has, between the surface of the conductor and the insulation, a semi-conductive taping of carbon black loaded paper having a thickness between 5 and 10%, of the radius of the conductor. This is stated to be the zone of greatest mechanical stress and hence any wrinkling or rupture of the paper occurring during bending occurs in a zone where there is no electrical stress.
