Abstract

751,124. Supporting conductors. McLEAN, G. O., and MILNE, A. G. Feb. 14, 1955 [March 2, 1954], No. 6013/54. Class 36. A supporting structure 2 is provided with a cross arm 1. having shaped slots 3 into each of which is fitted and secured an insulating tube 4 surrounding a conductor. The tubes may be secured in the grooves by wedges 5 and may have flared ends 6. The tubes may be formed around the conductors in situ from suitably shaped flat insulating sheets which are folded around the conductors. Alternatively they may be moulded to shape and may be threaded on to the conductors, or provided with longitudinal slots through which the conductors are inserted, a wedge-shaped cover being provided to close the slot and press on the conductor.
