Abstract

908,935. Brackets. PALMER, W. J. March 18, 1959, No. 9466/59. Class 52 (5). [Also in Group XXV] A bracket 1, Fig. 2, for securing a towel rail, pipe or the like 10 to a wall 13, comprises a base 2 and projection 3, containing a stepped bore 6, clamped by a nut 16 engaging the step 7 and screwed on to a stud &c. 14 projecting from the wall. The nut contains a ball 19 or other free part to prevent the stud end engaging and binding against the closed end of the nut, which may be used to drive the stud into a wallplug 12 before assembly of the bracket therewith. The rail-holding part 4 has a spigot 5 entering bore 6 and is locked therein by a transverse screw 11. In another arrangement, the nut 16, Fig. 4, has holes 20 adjacent its closed end to receive tommy-bars for driving the stud into its plug. The rail &c. is secured by a strap 22 fixed by a transverse screw 26. The stepped hole 23 is elongate to allow of adjustment. In a modification, the rail is held in an aperture 27, Fig. 6, by a clamping screw 26.
