Abstract
898,155. Dispensing cups. PACKMAN MACHINERY Ltd. Jan. 31, 1961 [Feb. 2, 1960], No. 3678/60. Class 78 (1). Cups 12 (Fig. 5) are introduced into magazine 10 at inlet A and are urged along the magazine by rotating wheels 14, the cups being delivered singly at outlet B by suction head 15 working in conjunction with jaws 18. Head 15 descends, and jaws 18 move inwardly to press the sides of the topmost cup against the head 15, which then withdraws the cup. Feeding cups to conveyer 47, Fig. 7.-Cups 12 in magazine 100 are introduced at the bottom 29 and resiliently urged upwardly at 28 so that the topmost cup is positioned between sliding jaws 18 and diagonally opposite sliding bars 19. Jaws 18 and bars 19 are displaced by annular cam 25 operated by handle 26. Jaws 18 press the cups inwards into engagement with suction head and then bars 19 move inwards to press the cups back to their original position, leaving the topmost cup stuck to head 15. The head 15 is carried by tube 31 supported on twin arms 38 pivoted at 39. The operator by means of handle E swings the head over anticlockwise to position the suction head 15 over a pocket 45 in endless conveyer 46. As the head is swung an arm 47 co-operates with a plunger 36 controlling the pneumatic supply so that the suction is cut off to permit the cup to fall into the pocket 45 for discharge thereby. The operator then swings the head 15 clockwise to the original position over magazine 100 and arm 47 again operates plunger 36 to re-initiate the suction ready for the next discharge.
