Abstract

644,126. Conveyers. RECKITT & COLMAN, Ltd., UPTON, J. B., and RYMER, D. W. Oct. 2, 1946, No. 29375. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Groups XVI and XVII] Articles to be fed to the wrapping station of a packing machine (see Group XVII) are placed manually in a tray 90 and are then fed successively by hand on to a member 93 which has a periodic forward and slightly upward movement followed by a rearward and slightly downward movement. The articles are carried forward on the forward movement and are left resting on frame members 98 on the rearward movement. The member 93 is formed with yokes 95 to which are pivoted downwardlyextending links (not shown) which derive the necessary movement from a main cam-shaft of the machine. These links extend through slots in a dust-collecting tray 94. At the other end of the conveyer each article is engaged successively and transferred to the wrapping station 110 (Fig. 3, not shown), by a gripper device 104 which has a jaw 102 operated by cam means (not shown) and is carried by a member 105 which has a reciprocating motion derived via links 107 from a cam-shaft (not shown). A check lever 101 pivotally mounted on the frame is engaged by a roller 108 carried by the member 105 so as to restrain the feed of articles whilst the leading article is being dealt with by the gripper 104.
