Abstract

964,696. Discharge from a nest of cartons. ROSE BROS. (GAINSBOROUGH) Ltd. March 2, 1961 [March 4, 1960], No. 7670/60. Heading B8S. Cartons 11 are released one by one from magazine 12 and are carried by carrier 32 so as then to be released and then discharged by pushers 57 of endless conveyer 58. Magazine 12 is carried by carriage 17 slidable on the shaft 18 and is reciprocated along the shaft by cam 27 operating through levers 24, 93 and 22. Carrier 32 rotates step by step and carries supports 33 on which a carton is to be held by gripper arms 36, 37 the extensions 38, 39 of which carry a roller 44 operated by cam 46. Cam 46 is operated by cam 53 through linkage 51, 49, 48. Operation.-Cartons 11 are held in magazine 12 by abutments 13 pivoted at 15. As the magazine 12 withdraws along shaft 18 abutments 13 are caused to diverge by the impact of rollers 118 upon fixed cam 119 and to release the bottom carton and then to grip the next bottom carton. At the same time gripper arms 36, 37 grip the released carton being actuated by cam 47 and carry it round on carrier 32 till the carton assumes the bottom position at which cam 46 causes gripper arms 36, 37 to release the carton which is then seized by arms 159 and lowered into contact with a pusher 57 on endless conveyer 58 for discharge.
