Abstract

896,402. Electromagnetic relays. DOWTY ELECTRICS Ltd. Jan. 16, 1959 [Oct.17, 1957], No.1620/59. Divided out of 896,401. Class 38 (5). A plug-in relay can be partially withdrawn against a stop to disconnect some of its connectors. A relay with an armature and contact arrangement as described in Specification 896,401 has plug contacts 7 which are longer than further plug contacts 8 connected to the solenoid 1. The relay has a transparent sealed case 9 with a handle 10 pivoted therein by a bolt 15. Attached to the handle 10 is a latch plate 16 which when the relay is fully plugged into the base 11, engages a shoulder 18 on one of two rails 12 which slide in slots 13 in the case 9. To isolate the solenoid the handle is turned anticlockwise (Fig. 5) to engage a stop 21, so that the plate 16 disengages the shoulder 18 and the relay can be withdrawn until an extension 22 of the plate 16 engages a shoulder 19 on the other rail 12. When the handle is subsequently turned clockwise the relay can be completely withdrawn.
